Few things need to be updated in the OP which would help those struggling to unlock and these are basic mistakes. I learnt by trial and error method:

1. Don't forget to set permissions of modded HTCOMADM_SPCS.apk to rw-r-r before restarting (highlight on step 3)
2. Most important - you need to have modded firmaware. For me this method was not working and finally lost hope and thought of flashing some ROM and gave a try to flash modded firmware.
You will find modded firmaware in this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2729173
I selected "1.54.654.15 Modified Firmware....removed boot, hboot & recovery (fastboot flashable)" in the list and flashed it using the fastboot commands using PC (second method in the firmware post).

Just restarted after that. Wow my GSM signal (Reliance India) was full (obviously I followed all the steps in this thread - like deleting the modded apk and restoring the original. Feeling like I am superman
I have the same mobile. Which rom was on it before you managed to unlock the sim?
Can you install roms on it?

No super cid, stock ROM, just s-off and follow the instructions in th OP.
Which stock rom do you have before you managed to unlock the SIM? Does it work on 3G & 4G or 3G only?

I unlocked my phone and was able to use on gsm network. However, the reception is abysmal, only half of what I used to get with my Galaxy S4 i9500. Can I flash a AT&T or T-Mobile radio listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2736921 to improve reception on GSM network? Would it brick my phone?

Thank you once again, amazing job.

So far my SPRINT HTC ONE M8 is working without any problems here in Croatia with the local GSM Carrier.

I hope it will stay like that when I put stock rom.

Thank you once again !
