Well installing the kernel and fixes after the rom seems to have done the trick.

I figured it would...in theory you always flash the kernel after the rom so the roms kernel does not overwrite the kernel you flashed.

The phone stuff confuses me. I can take most things apart and put them back together with no instructions, but programming a phone I don't grasp all the intricacies. I can follow instructions step by step though. From what I gather, this threads instructions indicate you should flash the kernel, then rom, then fixes, so that's the order I followed.

I'm thankful there are so many here willing to put up with the basic questions from people like me. Now if I can just figure out how to set the 6 million options Alliance offers, I'll be good (and probably scared to upgrade to V2 for fear of having to go through all the settings again.
