well since it deletes unnecessary stock bloat, it wouldn't be of much use *before* flashing.. ; )

There is a thread in the development forum about how to fix that problem.

Yes it was a silly noob question

And this may also be one but I have to ask it

I'm running the stock rom (Android 4.1.2 build 9.1.A.1.141). Could I download that debloat script and run it? Would that debloat my phone without installing the purext rom?

But the instructions in the OP say to install 4.1.2

First of all, you need to understand that a few months ago you could only root on 4.1.2 (Towelroot can now be used on 4.3). Steps 5 and 6 replace 4.1.2 with this 4.3 ROM.

Nonetheless, it would also help you to understand what the debloat script does. I haven't downloaded it (attachment doesn't exist anymore), but the post in which it's attached says it will just delete some apps. When going from 4.1.2 to 4.3 I haven't seen that any package names changed, so odds are it would still work; and in the worst case scenario, if one of the apps package changed names, then the script just wouldn't delete it, it wouldn't be a big deal.

I've never used it, but if you really want you can always try it and find out for yourself and/or open the updater-script file and see what it's doing.
