I see mods and kernals with fast charge, but I want the opposite. The charger that comes with the nexus 7 is 2 amps. I know a slower charging speed is better for the battery, and can last longer once fully charged. I charge the tablet every night, so it does not matter if it charges in 2 hours or 6 hours. I use a different AC adapter rated at 0.5 amps to get a slower charge speed.

What I want is either:
1. A 2 speed charger with a physical switch on the AC adapter.
2. A way to change the charge speed within Android.

I can't find any chargers that have a switch, so I am looking into option 2.

Both chargers show up in android as AC, not USB. So maybe I could use the fast AC adapter all the time and use some kind of kernal mod to make it think its charging in USB mode, therefor forcing the lower speed.

Any ideas? Thank you

Any updates on this? I hooked up my meter to do some tests and noticed the tablet will not pull the full 2 amps from the OEM charger unless it is powered off and left idle for about a minute. But it never goes past about 1 amp when the tablet is in use. I think the kernel manages the charge when the tablet is on, and the bootloader manages the charge while the tablet is off. Does this make sense? Who could I contact to possibly get something developed?
