Anyway to update...since I rooted I havent been able to root. Not sure if this has been addressed?

Yeah, and hopefully a xposed module is made to reset that. Or CM and other custom ROM makers bake it in.
I still feel that will not happen, and the flag will continue to be used for warranty purposes. ,
