did you applied all updates? did you make hard reset and set new settings without using old backup settings? only in this case battery life is improved (from my experience)

My battery is good with 8.1 update. A lot of software installed but I'm a moderate user. Patiently waiting for more improvements from the Cyan update.

I did the hard reset after terrible battery life. Started fresh and also killed some apps from running on the background such as Facebook. Now my battery seems much improved today.

This is weird, my lumia doesn't get a terrible battery life with wp 8.1 preview., but neither an outstanding one. It lasts all day with a moderate use, but not sure with an hard use. I think I'll wait for the oficial Cyan release, and let's hope battery life would get improved. 😉

Btw, Nokia is running final testing and releasing the update. In Spain, lumia 625 and 925 are getting it!
