Now since this repair I am stuck at Android 4.3 though, my latest firmware is from the 17th of Feburary. The Kerner-Version is 3.4.43.
I know that there is at least one update available (to 4.4.2). So how can I force the device to update itself? Is there a way?

you are not able to do any OTA updates because they replaced your motherboard... thats what happened to me too... you can update your fonepad with xxxxx_partial_update.zip

search the forum please

Hey,
thanks for your fast answer. I am thinking about doing a full update, since my Build-Number is JSS15Q.WW_epad-V5.25.... which makes me believe, that I would have to do a lot of partial updates to get to the newest version . Instead I think I will use this one , since this (5.3.8WW-Full) sounds like the most direct way to get to my goal.
Anything I should know? Sorry got really careful, after it broke the first time.

Thanks,
blckDTshadow

what is your fonepad model? is it K00E or K00Z or others? please check your product box / build.prop

Edit : according to your build number... i assume you are using K00E... DO NOT flash it...

Edit 2 : since you are already on 5.2.5 , you just have to flash 2 partial updates to get to the latest v6.4.2 (v5.2.5 to v6.3.6 and v6.3.6 to v6.4.2)

I rooted the tablet successfully, thank you.

My main reason to root was to Increase volume of speakers. But tge conf file looks totally different from my note 2.

Can someone help me to boost the speakers volume? This tab has 2 front facing speakers but volume is too low.

Hola,
yes you are right indeed. I am using the K00E. Thanks for the warning, I really appreciate your help! So I decided to go with the partial updates. Just to check, here is what I will do.
According to this post I am going to root my 5.2.5, install it following the instructions and then just do the second partial update.
I wish I just could go the normal way and would not have to do it this way. Guess that's life :P

Cheers,
