I havent seen anyone talk about this so here is my delimma. I was on your 2.7.0.1 recovery and my backup and restore times were not too bad, maybe 2-3 mins. After flashing your 2.8.0.0 backing up the same rom with ~ the same amount of data my backup times are like 6-7 mins now...it doubled the time it takes to backup and restore. Idk if this is common or not.

Did you enable/disable compression?

For comparison purposes, I just did a backup on 2.8.0.1 and it took 532 seconds to complete. That is a little over nine minutes. I enabled compression and the total backup size was 2.5GB. I know this is not apples to apples, but it gives you an idea. I do not remember how long a backup took on 2.7.0.x.

My compressed backups on 2.7.x.x typically took around 430-450 seconds.

This update made my phone bootloop into twrp recovery every time I rebooted. Was on stock but flashed venom and now phones working but still have the recovery bootscreen show up while phone is booting. The one with the red lettering at the bottom. Tried changing it. Applied a venom boot logo but won't take. Any ideas?

That has nothing to do with recovery. You need to update your firmware.
