I'd like to thank you for not updating all the time. Having a solid GPE ROM really extends the life of this device for me :good: ! I thought for sure I was going to buy a different phone because I couldn't deal with the constant flashing to avoid TW.

I have a problem using the Google Camera (Factory from ROM install and even with update from Play Store). When I try manually focusing using HDR mode it shows the circle for a split second and doesn't focus. I've tried clearing the app's data and cache and to no avail.

+1 on this. Thank you for this awesome ROM, Dan! The S4 is fast and stable with it!

This ROM is the sole reason I haven't bothered to upgrade to another phone :)

Can you verify if HDR is working with the Google Camera on the CM version? This was the one reason I've stayed with a GPE ROM....whenever I use HDR on any CM ROM (including Dan's) I just get a grey photo. (Basically it doesn't take a photo.) I stopped crack flashing and have been on this GPE ROM - which I love - for quite some time, but I'd consider a CM ROM again if HDR worked.

Thanks for your thoughts!

I went from this to Dans CM version. I get much better battery life.

I'm really liking this rom, but the inability to send touchtones during calls is really a deal breaker..i haven't seen a good fix for this. I've tried flashing the stock dialer, but that didn't correct it, either.

I too have noticed this since first installing. Switch off the HDR, then it will focus, then switch back on 8(. Hopefully it will get resolved soon.

No it doesn't. Works on factory but I don't like how they turn out compared to Google cam HDR.

I know I'm probably the only one but, I just installed your (Dan) cm ROM latest, all works great except I had no GPS for whatever reason, on your factory kernel, so I came back here. Still getting random dims on GPE. Just wanted to say that I noticed your cm ROM does give better reception BC I had LTE where my desk is and now back on this I don't. So whatever that's worth. I'm on Dev nc5. Anyways, love the work man looking forward to installing your updates!

I would LOVE, LOVE to see an improvement with the Cellular service on this ROM. It's my only issue which seems to occur in areas with weak coverage.

I used APN Backup/Recovery to move the APN list from a TW ROM to this one which seems to have helped a bit. I replaced the list versus merging it. With the new APN list the APN settings seems to be locked to the APN "Verizon Internet" versus bouncing around to other settings which I saw with the built-in APN list. In areas with weak coverage I get a 3G signal. I have not been in an area where 1x is the only signal. I am using the NC5 modem. YMMV.

You mean you can't make selection on automated phone systems, or is it something else? You are the only one in this thread with that problem, if that is, in fact, what you are talking about.

Odd that you say that the CM version does not have the problem with weak signal areas. I tried the CM version and had the same issue.

I also asked Danvdh if there were any differences between his GPE and CM ROM in how cellular signals get handled. He said that there weren't any differences.

This issue is the ONLY problem that I am having with this ROM. I would love to get a fix for it!

I recently tried copying an APN back-up from a TW ROM to this one. Still doing testing to see if that makes any difference. The APN list now looks like what is shown in the attached file.

Anyone updates? The poor signal and performance in weak signal areas is the only thing keeping me from using as my daily driver!

Reverted back to Retail MDK modem to address weak signal

Anyone updates? The poor signal and performance in weak signal areas is the only thing keeping me from using as my daily driver!

I had similar weak signal issues on this ROM with the Retail and Dev NC5 modems so I reverted back to the retail MDK modem and now things are better. I live in an area just outside LTE range so I only have 3G in my house, sometimes only 1x. Retail MDK is best here. Not quite as fast as Dev NC5 when you have a strong LTE signal, but at least I stay connected all the time.
Just sayin', weak signal is better than none. Come on, WiFi calling!

interesting, this is the same as what I include in the ROM

can you send me whatever backup file your apn app makes?

After I restore the APN that was saved from the TW ROM my APN list looks like the attached image which is a much shorter list than I got with your APN list

EDIT: The APN backup file which came from the Eclipse ROM is also attached. I replaced your APN list with the one attached. I did not merge the 2 lists.

Let me know if you need anything else.

    *use the updated flashable addons*
-Rebased everything I had going on in 4.4.3 into 4.4.4, this was a royal pain but it had to be done, I've smashed this project yet again with 4 straight hours of development, helps when you're organized and ready for surprises like this, No features are missing from 4.4.3 and the addons received an update too, I need a beer now. phew

*Use the updated DarkUI flash zip if you use this feature*
-Autobrightness adjusted, I upped the values a bit so mostly everyone should be happy, the screen is no longer too dark but does a good job saving power too, I'll be submitting this array to CM.
-Home button long press vibration and touchkey button vibration smoothed out, should give the perfect amount of haptic feedback when this option is enabled
    -Kernel updated
    -Updated build.prop
-Last 4.4.3 release, stay tuned 4.4.4 whenever they decide to give us that

this will help battery life a great deal :) as you can see here, it's well tested by the guys at CM, they have been working on perfecting autobrightness for well over a month now for this device, I'm very happy with the results of these changes
special thanks to @hawkerpaul for pointing this out to me in the CM repo

    @ everyone

As many of you know Android 4.4.3 is just around the corner, test builds have been spotted on just about every device and many sources
say this month will be the release, I just wanted to give my userbase the piece of mind that I will system dump 4.4.3 and have a ROM out
within a week (assuming testers are available as I've never even connected to a verizon tower in my life) of it's release containing every feature/improvement that I currently have in my current 4.4.2 ROM, I have spreadsheets
prepared with all my needed changes with notes to make the implementation that much easier, my goal is to ship only 2 releases of 4.4.3
when it launches, the first one will contain proper autobrightness, reboot menu, home button lag fix, SD write permissions and absolute minimal
bloat to allow user customization, my 2nd release will go live once I'm done themeing that horrible new dialer I saw pictures of.
many of you may have noticed I redid 4.3 (GSM only) not to long ago for a couple reasons, 1) 4.3 is preferred to some ppl and 2) practice, I want all the development
fresh in my mind for the real ROM, which will be 4.4.3

I would also like to take this time to thank all my donators, you guys are extremely awesome and are helping me through some pretty tough times
you guys are awesome!!! I can't wait to hear feedback once 4.4.3 ships and I get it out to you guys, there is no doubt in mind that my ROM gets better on screen time then any GPE ROM using
stock Samsung dyanmic autobrightness, the AOSP values just destroy them in every way shape and form.

cheers and have a great night everyone, and remember my personal goal is to keep as many of you S4 users from upgrading as I can, I want everyone to not feel the need to update this device for another year, this will ultimately save you some cash too ;) I WILL not ditch this userbase for another device, I have every intention in keeping my S4.

    Dan
