If you want to flash another rom, just run "Clean to install a new ROM" option and then install the zip.
If there isn't a ROM installed, you can't access to internal storage via USB cable in fastboot or recovery mode.
I usually use a pendrive in this situation and I flash the zip with OTG cable from pendrive.

That's exactly my problem was. Now onwards I gonna select " Clean to Install a new ROM" as you suggested.

Thanks for valuable help.

There is an option somewhere in the settings to change the backup location or something . Select that one and then you can backup.
The issue is actually Bcoz of wrong backup path or location

Same issue here with xt1032 and latest recovery version. No way to change backup location under Misc Nandroid settings, only /sdcard option is selectable.

Is there an option to transfer files through USB? I format my system and everything but I forgot to put the new zip-rom to flash through recovery.
