I'm a Swyper...one thumb is all I need to text! lol

I have no issues at all with one handed use of the m8 with the Dot View Case....and with Viper on it that allows you to make it show any notification...I absolutely LOVE it!

I have what has to be a knock-off dotview from overseas (ebay for $.99) and it closes fine. It's actually quite springy so I don't have any of the issues some complained about while typing on it. It is my case of choice, and I have the Spigen, the official HTC smart flap case, a leather flap case, and one other clear TPU case. Plus I have a Spartan tempered glass screen protector. Everything is copacetic.

Mine doesnt close all the way too. Maybe I messed up when I tried to close it with force when I had tampered glass protection. Because this glass is so thick it eventually bended my Dot case. And now I cant use it lol.

Has anyone had any luck stretching the hinge?

The binding on mine is a soft rubbery material. I would think that the rubbery material would stretch if enough force was applied.

I've taped down one side to my countertop and then pulled it taut and taped down the other side. Left it that way for a few days but it didn't do anything. I also tried running the blow dryer over it while in this position for about 10 minutes but still no luck. I'm running out of ideas and the only thing I can think of now is to try and strengthen the magnetism in the cover with a magnet from a hard drive. I'm concerned that if it does increase the magnetism it could possibly damage my screen though.

Thumbs down Dot view case *major flaw* in design!!
Bought the original case the other case only to see that its not sit flat on the phone screen and it has like 2mm gap, which really annoys the hell outta me!!!

The Dot feature is awesome but the gap doesn't do any justice. aftermarket dot view case is way better and cheaper as well.

Shame on you HTC!!!

Yeah the problem with the cover is that, it doesn't close all the way which is annoying.
