Notification bar icon WM 6.5.3

Hey guys, just wondering if you can tell me what this icon (the top right hand corner, obscuring the clock) is officially called, and how I get rid of it?

When I tap anywhere else on the top bar, the HTC Nofications menu appears, but tapping on this icon behind the clock brings up the default WM 6.5.3 "notification bar" (or whatever it's called).
