I believe if you have flashed a stock recovery you will get a dead android. I did when I flashed a stock gpe recovery on mine. You won't get a lot of options like you will on twrp or cwm.

You could try on RUU method with changing CID just below in that thread:

HTC say next week for a release so if artur0588 decides to release a rom it will be after then

I got this phone about a week ago for cheap, flashed CM, surprised how laggy it was. I put this ROM on it, knowing I'd probably have to update in a few days but it was well worth it. No noticeable lag at all.


Question; would a "real" gpe get the HTC camera app? I noticed I can't download it and I'm stuck with the AOSP camera.
