Is there any ota.zip available to upgrade to this E version? My rooted stock shows update available - but update never works as i am rooted. tried unroot but still no luck.
If i flash this kdz, will i loose all the app data?

I am wondering if it's a safe and quick method for unrooting if you are OK with losing everything, for warranty purposes, etc
When I flashed this kdz, I did not lose data. However, I did have FC's all over the place because of the customizations I had made while previously rooted. So, I ended up wiping with a factory reset anyway.
You could try just rooting again right after flashing and see what happens. I did not try that before just wiping. Either way, you should back up your data first.

I flashed kdz using lg flash tool 2014. All my data is back. Rooted with towel root and installed twrp using autorec. Have to clear data and manually push latest playstore and play services. Did reinstall xposed and rebooted. Didn't reinstall modules though. Everything working fine so far. Ad away hosts have to be downloaded too. So spend some time fixing but better than recreating data. Haven't tried titanium or lgbackup.

Currently towelroot can root D801 20E but NOT the D801 20G firmware. Towelroot says "the phone isn't currently supported".

So stump root works on 20g firmware? I just got the OTA notification and I don't want to update if I can't re-root.
I have no idea. Can't find any info on it other than that it was apparently released a few weeks ago.

I suspect that as long as I can root it, then Xposed should work fine. As far as I know, the 20g update is still KitKat 4.4.2
I am processing the update now via LG Support Tool...

31The latest update on the LG servers! Not an OTA. D80120G, Kit Kat 4.4.2. Here's a link to the kdz file on their server. You can use the LG Mobile Support Tool to upgrade. After putting your phone into download mode (holding volume up while plugging in usb), go into the options menu and selected Upgrade Recovery. You will need to have the latest LG USB drivers installed. Unfortunately, the Mac drivers do not support software upgrades. Towelroot does not support D80120G yet, but Stump Root was able to use brute force and root 20G. You can find Stump Root here

For D80120E: I lost root and recovery when I updated, but was able to re-root with towelroot. Here's a link to their website. Then I installed and ran AutoRec to install TWRP, then flashed Cloudyfa's kernel v1.3 to enable Knock Code.

I think it sucks that carriers are allowed to block out and taint parts of an OS, an open-source OS at that, just because they have people by the balls in terms of contracts and subsidies. Tethering? Free, and part of Android, but try telling a carrier that. Tap-to-Pay? "Oh but ISIS is so much better!," says carriers. "You can use that while we install CIQ to track every movement that you make!"
