It could be due to qualcomm content adaptive backlight, if you are on stock MF (I don't know if custom roms have this function running) you can try this:
1) you need Nova or a similar launcher that permits you to create shortcuts of hidden apps;
2) on Nova home screen, long tap, select Shortcuts , then Activities (or Actions, don't remeber since I have it in italian)
3) from the list search and select Content Adaptive Backlight Settings
4) repeat steps 1) and 2) then select SVI Settings
5) Tap on these two shortcuts to get access to settings for this active backlight regulation, try to disable it in either the apps
and check if it get better.
Hope it can help.

thanks for the help!
Unfortunately it didn't work but I am fine with manually adjusting the bightness. It is not really a flickering it is more of a boping around of the imagine while I adjust the brightness and a constant boping around when it is set to auto. The image is like slightly jumping up and down.

Quick question, where can I get the ZTE MFUI 2.2 B14 JB 4.3 ? Is that the most stable rom as of now?

Is MF 3.0.6 smoother when comparing to CM11?

I don't do well on English, so please quote me if you want to know what excatly I said.

It's the same smoothness like cm11 but much less bugs, so yeah it's better
