I'm able to cast my XBMC 13.2 Gotham to TV using both AVIA and LocalCast apps. I use a single playercorefactory.xml file in XBMC's user data directory, and every time I wanna switch between the two apps (AVIA or LocalCast) I just open up the playercorefactory.xml file and change the following line:
for AVIA
<rule video="true" player="Avia"/>
for LcalCast
<rule video="true" player="LocalCast"/>

So, I was wondering if there is anyway to get the option to choose between the two apps inside XBMC, so I dont need to change the XML file every time I want to switch between the two apps. I tried long pressing on the links in XBMC to see any if "play using" menu pops out... but this didn't work.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,

Follow the instructions in the link below. Also check out its discription. To switch between Avia and chromecast read my original post.

Watch "XBMC to Chromecast Streaming Android!!!!" on YouTube

Here is a video with instructions for streaming XBMC(Kodi) to Chromecast using LocalCast. The PlayerCoreFactory.xml file download link as well as links for all of the other software needed is in the video description. I have installed it on a few devices, all working and streaming in excellent quality. This is a free alternative to using Avia which costs $4.99 for Chromecast functionality.

Can you use this method to send live XBMC streams to the Chromecast? Every time I try it just says 'external player active' but no external app loads.

It works fine for stuff like downloadable video

I also have the external player error trying to stream sportsdevil. Hoping to get it working before the ufc tomorrow. Please help or is there another way to stream live fights?
I am also wondering, I installed the player core from the video above, but now I can't watch anything just on my phone, it will only try to play over the chrome cast, is there a way to switch and just watch it on my phone or use the Chromecast?
