Unfortunately, I am unable to add or edit anything in APN settings (other than the name) because of big red aka Verizon. The settings are tied to the sim apparently.

ofcourse...always verizon phones, yet i continue to keep getting new phones through them. I'm glad I read this before wasting my time attempting it.

Can you provide some extra information?

I assume you mean Android 5.0. What phone/carrier?

I was just going to try this on my Moto X (2014) running Android 5.0 on T-Mobile.

Exactly for VZW note 4, we are somehow unable/unallowed to create a new APN... I was wondering why as well for quit some time now... but i cannot figure it out for the life of me...

Works great on Z3 Compact, thank you.
If Lolipop enables SD card write capability I will even no longer need root .
