Thanks!

if towelroot works for 4.4.2 and not 4.4.4 is there a tutorial on how to downgrade from .4 to .2? I bought mine from amazon and let it update not knowing .4 doesn't have a root yet. I don't see much about .4 that is a definite must keep feature so I don't mind the downgrade.

Install the apk open it and click make it rain, wait at least 10 seconds then reboot (even though it says you don't need to), then get SuperSU from Chainfire and install the apk in the zip file, open the program and update the binary via normal method, if it asks to disable Knox (and you don't need the Knox apps) then disable it. Note: this does not disable the Knox counter, just the apps.
Reboot as SuperSU suggests.
Now that you have root access, you need to get BusyBox and Xposed, get the stable version 2.6.1

If you reboot, or power up, into download mode you should see a 0x0 Knox

P.S. you don't need xposed but it has some very nifty modules.

i like CWM recovery, when should i flash it..after rooting and before xposex

I haven't used custom recovery on any of my Samsung devices simply for not wanting to trip Knox. I would say you could probably flash it after root. I don't think it matters in regards to xposed since xposed is a tool that let's you install customizations to the phone, like turning on the flashlight whole the screen is off.

Josh

2 questions-
Were you able to Odin back to 4.4.2 after taking the 4.4.4 update?
Did you try using SuperSU's 'maintain root through update' options before/when you upgraded?
