I've gotten a ROM from the Venue 8 nonPro (3830). We might be able to simply flash from USB, as we can't boot from MicroSD. Secure Boot will probably need disabled and Bitlocker WILL need REMOVED and DISABLED.

Here's the thread I asked in:

DuOS on a Windows tablet. It's faster and way easier than dual booting.

Talking dell venue 8 pro 5xxx android 4.4.4
i have been stuffing around on my venue 8 pro for a while now experimenting with different versions of bios and android images i find.... and its led to this!!!!!
a broken chair(i fell off) and a venue 8 pro with android !!!

and the performance is mind boggling id compare it to my nexus 5

what i did :
1 downgraded the bios to a03
2 downloaded this image for the t100 groups(dot)google(dot)com/forum/#!msg/android-x86/FUiFCtrgc6I/Fqt8Rg-fpQkJ
3 extracted all of the files onto a usb that was formatted with fat32
4 held the power button and bumped the vol up button and it brought me to an odd looking boot manager
5 choose my usb and booted from the first selected label

also i had found a image with wifi supoedly working so im gonna go and find it now

all that i have left to say to people is good luck!!

Oh ye this is my first ever post on xda.... So go easy lol

oh ye and sorry mods for putting the url there i just though this info was to good to lose

Now ...if any one can install it along side windows that would be amazing!! Not as a live copy

I don't know if anybody has a Venue 11 Pro, but today they released a new BIOS update for the 7130/7139 (i3/i5) models which finally made the touchscreen work in Linux again. I'm running my own build of Android-x86 (EFI IMG) with a few patches and updates from git. After swapping the ath6k-based (SDIO bus?! I couldn't even see it in Linux with SDIO-capable ath6kl compiled in) Dell Wireless 1537 for an Intel 7265, it works fine. So my Windows tablet is finally and Android tablet. How nice it is to be able to use Chrome again! The only nonworking things appear to be auto-brightness and NFC but I'm not sure those are supported at all in android-x86...

Did you end up getting it working? I was able to get the SDIO ath6kl loaded, which should mean the WiFi card is detected fine, but it doesn't turn on.

This is pretty easy. Just shrink the partition in Windows, then copy the stuff you see in system.sfs (after mounting, then mounting the system.img in it), preserving permissions, of course.
Then mount the first partition (boot), and install GRUB, then edit the config file, using the one in the original iso image as base.

I didn't know 713x came with 1537s, I thought they all came with Intel 7265s.
Touchscreen has also always worked for me in Linux, except when using the 3.19 RC kernels.
