Well I had issues installing with CWM, it just wouldn't install. So I used Thor's 5.5.0 recovery, now it installed, did all the necessary wipes, and it booted up. Did one reboot after install, then dove into the system.
I like the Smart Launcher, but on the a500 the screen is too large to keep the interface from looking gritty, just a personal opinion. Okay, so from the there I am now in the launcher. The home button doesn't do anything, except highlight when you press it. Went into settings to enter WiFi password, decided to go into advanced from the drop down menu and nothing happens. Opened a few of the apps up (pre-installed), then tried the recent button and nothing happened.
I didn't flash GApps yet, wanted to see how it ran before Google invaded the system. What is the reason behind not including a file browser? There are a few minimalist ones that could have been used, so as to reduce side-loading from recovery or USB adb. I grabbed a copy of PA GApps 4.4.4 pico package, one of the most stripped down packages, and flashed it. Works great.
I did like how lightweight the system is, but the home button is needed otherwise apps are closed down. Could use a third-party app to remap home button, but that defeats the lightweight approach to the ROM. I will keep checking this thread out for any fixes. Thank you for providing an alternative to the limited amount of ROMs we have for our tablet.
Browser isn't working from home screen nor from app drawer.
