how to avoid duplicate apps on emulated/0 and emulated/legacy

after I "root" my samsung note 8.0 GT N5100, there is a folder on my sdcard "emulated / 0 and emulated / legacy" folder that basically both the same, but the apps that I installed was found on the second folder thus diminishing the capacity of the sdcard. Can you help me to avoid doubling the files on the sdcard? sdcard0 and folder names can be changed in the original (sdcard)? thank you.

I don't get why more people aren't up in arms over this. Everything I've seen has proven to me that all versions of Android since 4.0 are in effect DUPLICATING ALL USER DATA within the directories /emulated/0 and emulated/legacy. When you look at the file size of both folders, then add them up, they equal just under your total internal storage usage (minus hidden system files i gess making up the difference). How do we stop this? How can we safely delete one of these folders and free up space??
