Yes, It's fixed I'm all good now was worried a bit.
How did you get it to work? Mine's doing the exact same thing. ODIN from 4.4.4, boots to Samsung, goes black and blue LED stays on. I've flashed, reflashed, cleared factory settings, etc. I've flashed several phones dozens of times, and I can't seem to get passed this bootloop

Full Disclosure
stock 4.4.4
flashed AP, CP, CSC in ODIN 3.07 and 3.09 and it PASSED (all for ANCE and have used these files before so I know they're good)
phone reboots, starts the Samsung boot animation and freezes about halfway through
screen goes black and blue LED stays lit

recovery shows ANCE and KNOX is still intact. Everything LOOKS like it's working, but it keeps looping/freezing

Go to this thread and scroll down to troubleshooting section download the downgrade to NCE tar and flash it in the AP slot using 3.09 you'll be fine and back to bone stock NCE

Thank you so much. Quick question though. What is in that AP that isn't in the stock AP? I've flashed the AP, CSC, and CS as individual pieces before and it worked fine. It's much appreciated

I'm not sure but for some reason flashing separately coming from OA1 4.4.4 results in the bootloop
I just follow OP and it worked perfectly for me and the others I've helped.

downgrade to NCE and flash NG3 and OA1 zip files

Background:

I have a ATT Samsung Galaxy S5. I recently switched to T-mobile and has been using my S5 of Tmobile.
The S5 always had low volume from ear piece. Its was manageable and some time I will have to ask other party to repeat.

I had rooted my phone and modified media_params.xml but without much success. All boltware was frozen with titanium.
I was running G900AUCU2AND3.

Last week I decided to upgrade to latest ROM version.
1 - First, unfroze all the bloat-ware and ATT update app.
2 - Phone immediately says and download update of 142MB size.
3 - Phone reboots to install the update. Install fails at 28%.
4 - I tried install couple of times and every time it fails at 28%.

5 - I did a factory reset and tried the upgrade.
6 - Same story, downloads 142MB file and upgrade fails at 28%.
7 - I unroot the phone using SuperSU. Update still fails.
8 - I was thinking there is some serious problem. Many people report this issue on ATT forums.
https://forums.att.com/t5/Samsung-Discussion-Support/Software-Update-Failed/td-p/4058678
https://forums.att.com/t5/Samsung-D...5-SM-G900a-software-update-Error/td-p/4058052

9 - Finally, I downgrade to G900AUCU1ANCE following steps in http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2785185
I flashed all 3 files as per step 4 in OP.
The bootloader remains at ND3. Baseband was downgraded to NCE. See screehshot.

10 - Tried OTA again. Update fails at 28%.
11 - Further searching on xda, http://xdaforums.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/how-to-root-g900aucu2aoa1-4-4-4-2-3-2015-t3021120
I found NCE to NG3 OTA zip file (see Troubleshooting: section in OP). I download G900A_NCE_to_NG3_OTA.zip and tried to flash it from recovery.
12 - Update/Flash fails. But this time it gives an error message "E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (Status 7)". See screenshot attached.

13 - Back on xda, I find someone with same issue. Read post around http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=55135164&postcount=17
14 - I then followed steps in http://xdaforums.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/g900and3tong3keeprootota-zip-t2862299
Notes: 3 to flash G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar using ODIN. Bootloader remains at ND3 and baseband was downgraded to NCE.

15- Another try flashing G900A_NCE_to_NG3_OTA.zip from receovery. Viola, success. Bootloader and baseband changed to NG3.
16 - Tried flashing G900A_NG3_to_OA1_OTA.zip and that too went fine. Bootloader and baseband changed to OA1.
17 - Steps 15 and 16 run as per Troubleshooting: section in http://xdaforums.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/how-to-root-g900aucu2aoa1-4-4-4-2-3-2015-t3021120
I didn't have patience for another OTA download. Hence flashed OTA zip files.

Final result:
1. My ATT S5 was running OA1 firmware.
2. The ear piece went extremely low voice. Not audible at all. Since it was under warranty, I decided to head to Samsung for repair.

Soft bricked galaxy s5 ATT G900A haaalp

Hello, so I recently got this AT&T S5 and updated to lollipop 2 weeks ago and hated it, thus I tried downgrading
and eventually soft bricked it. I have read tons and tons of sites, tried this thread and all other others linked from this one.
When flashing the stock fw throught the AP, I ALWAYS get fail. I have tried thousands of other files and same result.
HOWEVER, only thing that seems to work perfect through odin is the CL file. I have problems with the AP and CSP file.

Before flashing the CL files I could NEVER get into recovery mode, but only download mode.
Is there anyway of flashing through the recovery via sd card? Since Odin fails on my always?
By this I mean i have tried 3 different pcs, different cables, usb 2.0s and 3.0 ports, 3 different versions of odin and same fail.

If you took the OTA you'll have to wait for root

After trying the OP steps and flashing everything, nothing would allow the OTA updates. Followed your advice from the suggested thread in the troubleshooting section and downloaded the "downgrade to NCE tar" allowed me to get the OTA updates. Thank you.

I'm so dieing to root this.... I'm on of2. I'm thinking to attempt the nce downgrade but the download with all the separate slots for Odin. With this phone not rooted it makes me feel like a little grandma with her cell phone. Honestly what is there to do on a phone without root:confused:

Maybe if enough people try to downgrade the of2 it will finally work.

What baseband are you on... I want to downgrade but if odin fails usually you get the upgrade failure connect to kies message on bootup. I solved that with flashing the of2 tar kernel. I thought about flashing this but i believe it's unsafe for of2. Any little flashing error this phone gets a bootup problem or bootloop. If you're willing to odin things try this...... It's my next attempt to obtain root.... http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2785363

If that's the case, there is nothing else you can do without taking the phone to an At&t store or Best Buy without flashing the downgrade file through Odin through AP:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38127313/G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar.md5

It will erase all of your phone's data, but might get it back running if you don't have the lollipop bootloader.

I already took it and the program they were using (they showed me) gave them an error telling them it was rooted.

I tried doing that and I get some fused binary error.

UPDATE 03-06-2016: This is the latest and only FULL fix for the current Lollipop firmware: G900AATT4COI5 (Lollipop 5.1.1), which cannot be rooted at this point, and should fix all current versions of the At&T Galaxy S5, including Lollipop G900AUCU4BOF2 and G900AUCU4BOF3, but likely with the sacrifice of not being able to ever root again.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B25Y6zWgDo7yaF9BbnJfaDBmcm8/view?usp=sharing

You will need to unzip all of the files into a common folder. You need to boot into download mode. You have to flash the BL_G900A in BL, the AP_G900A file in AP, the CP_G900A file in CP, and the CSC_ATT_G900A in CSC. It's best to flash all four files at the same time. Make sure only Auto Reboot and F. Reset time are checked. Once the phone reboots after Odin, the operating system is updated to the latest firmware G900AATT4COI5. You will permanently loose root, however (if root is never found); and your phone will be factory reset because of the CSC_ATT_900A file.

To fix the stock partitions only, follow the thread by Birkyjon :

THIS AND EVERYTHING BELOW THE NEXT LINK IS OUTDATED AND ONLY WORKS FOR FIRMWARES G900AUCU1ANCE AND G900AUCU2AND3, AND MAYBE G900AUCU2ANG3.

For all firmwares 4.4.2 and 4.4.4, it's best to use the G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar file by muniz_ri also found here:

These can be rooted again after downgrading.

    THE FORMER CORRECTED VERSION:

(Note this guide is mostly for Windows based computers and may not work on a Mac).

For those who've soft bricked their s5 after towel root, or just looking to downgrade (to enable the download booster fix for example, or just want to start over), and who are on firmware G900AUCU2AND3, this is a brief guide, as I don't have the time of day to make a full step by step guide.
    1. You're going to need the firmware from this thread. Only use the first file download. The other, as well as the ones from Samsung-updates and Sammobile will not work.

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2714455

or you can use the link from davew41 given here

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/7np57282x5on1h1/SM-G900A+4.4.2+Firmware.rar

    2. You'll need to extract these files. You'll likely need winrar to extract the files.

The .rar file contains 4 different .tar files The BL file is for the bootloader, the AP is for the boot image, recovery, and system, the CP is for the modem, and the CSC is for the cache.

    3. You are going to need Odin 3.09.

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/vwuqru9m1jp9wbw/Odin3_v3.09.zip

    4. If you are doing a full downgrade, starting everything new with a factory reset, then you will need all of the files, except the BL file. BL for sure will not work, because you already have that bootloader.
You need to boot into download mode. You have to flash the AP_G900A file in AP, The CP_G900A file in CP, and the CSC_ATT_G900A in CSC. It's best to flash all three files at the same time. Make sure only Auto Reboot and F. Reset time are checked. Once the phone reboots after Odin, the operating system is downgraded back to the previous one. You will temporarily loose root (until you re-root), and your phone will be factory reset because of the CSC_ATT_900A file. The phone, minus the bootloader, will be in the exact state that it was in from the UCU1ANCE firmware, so that it is easily rooted again as well as upgraded back up again.

    5. If you are looking to downgrade, but want to keep your userdata without a factory reset, then you will only need the AP_G900A file.
You only need to flash the AP_G900A file in AP. Make sure only Auto Reboot and F. Reset time are checked. Once the phone reboots after Odin, the operating system is downgraded back to the previous one. You will temporarily loose root (until you re-root), and your phone will not lose any of its userdata. The phone, minus the bootloader, will be in about the state that it was in from the UCU1ANCE firmware, so that it is easily rooted again. The disadvantage, if you want to call it that, is that the phone will not be upgradeable through OTA updates. That can be fixed at a later date by following step 4.

Note: If there was a factory reset before, or probably after this step, you might get some strange things in your operating system since you only flashed the AP file, like a different keyboard, and a mobile data toggle in the notification which I actually liked. Also, your APNs will probably get wiped and you will have to re-enter them manually:

Name: ATT Phone (Some might have PTA in place of Phone)
    APN: phone
    Proxy: Not set
    Port : Not set
    User name: Not set
    Password: Not set
    Server: Not set
    MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
    MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
    MMS port: 80
    MCC: 310
    MNC: 410
    Authentication type: None
    APN type: default,mms,supl,hipri,fota
    APN protocol: IPv4
    APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    Enable/disable APN: APN enabled
    Bearer: Unspecified

    6. If you are looking to recover from a softbrick, but are not looking to loose your userdata, then your only need the AP_G900A file.
APN type: default, mms, supl, hipri, fota
    APN protocol: IPv4
    APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    Enable/disable APN: APN enabled
    Bearer: Unspecified

Thanks to davew41 and pcidiot for doing some of the things that I initially did not have time to do.

THE ORIGINAL VERSION AND ORIGINAL EDIT: (so the previous comments won't become confusing)

For those who've soft bricked their s5 after towel root, and who are on firmware G900AUCU2AND3, including myself, we could all use the G900AUCU2AND3 firmware, which unfortunately is not available right now to the public.

I don't have the time of day to make a full step by step guide, but here are the steps that I did to get my phone back running. It's not perfect, and does not bring the phone back exactly to how it was, but it is an emergency fix for if you need the phone right away.

    1. You're going to need the firmware from this thread. Only use the first file download. The other, as well as the one from Samsung-updates and Sammobile will not work.

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2714455

    2. You'll need to extract extract the files.*

    3. You are going to need Odin 3.09. 3.07 may work as well. You will need the AP_G900A file only. BL for sure will not work, and I have not tried the other 2 files yet.

    4. You need to boot into recovery and do a factory reset. Then you need to boot directly into download mode, and not into the operating system.

    5. You have to flash the AP_G900A file in AP, or PDA with ODIN, depends on whether it's 3.07 or 3.09. Make sure only Auto Reboot and F. Reset time are checked.

Once my phone rebooted after Odin, the operating system was downgraded back to the previous one. I lost root access, as well as gaining some other things that I do not like, like the keyboard. I also gained a mobile data toggle for some reason (Maybe I had it previously, but don't remember it). I was able to easily re-root the phone, and I also had to re-enter my APN settings, as those were also wiped which killed my mobile data connection.

Like I said, it's an emergency fix. It's not perfect. If it does work for you, your phone for now will be stuck on the previous operating system until there is a ROM to flash or a new OTA, as there is no current firmware to flash, and the current OTA will also fail because you still have the same bootloader as the one you're trying to update to.

ORIGINAL EDIT: It has now been discovered that three of the four files, AP, CP, and CSC do indeed work. You have to flash them separately one at a time; flash one, reboot, then flash the next. You will temporarily loose root, and the last one, CSC, will factory reset your phone. Also the OTA now works after flashing all three files, so we are now all good.*

Thanks to davew41 and pcidiot for doing some of the things that I initially did not have time to do. I will re-edit this post later.

I loaded all files minus the BL files and it worked perfectly. The first time I used just the AP file and rebooted. Seen the Keyboard was different etc, stuff the OP stated. So I factory Reset and started over Loading all files but the BL file and let Odin do its work. Upon reboot Keyboard was back Modem setting was there etc. Working great. I was also able to update back to G900AUCU2AND3 firm ware immediately upon checking.

Well It took to long and automatically stopped. That sucks, here I go again. Let me know what you find out as it will take me quite sometime and you will know the answers before I am done. Thanks

Make sure you download the firmware from the post you were linked too. I can confirm that the SamMobile firmware will not work on ND3 software.

Two different WiFis. It won't let me over mobile data. Do you happen to know where I can obtain the update.zip? I do know how to adb a bit. :)

That link will not be up for long.

You need to sideload it from stock recovery. Also, here is a page on how to sideload adb.
