Yes, it's a fine solution as it is AFTER the installation of cm11
Only for installation of cm11 u need the recovery that is provided in the thread.

This is the solution:


Google SDK has to be up to date
enable USB Debug in developmentoptions
and HTC Driver has to be installed

Disconnect cable

On phone:
Settings -> Storage
Press Menu button -> USB computer connection
Select MTP


On PC (command prompt):
adb kill-server
adb devices

Connect cable
