Yes it will overwrite your current one. An if you have fastboot setup on Ubuntu you should be good to go as is an just fast boot like normal.

Question 5.1 firmware?
Greetings...

I just posted a thread asking about 5.1 firmware/radio for Verizon M8---was directed to your thread to ask about it.... I see another thread that "has" 5.1 firmware ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2716306 ). Was wondering if you have tried it/know about it?

This thread only host official firmware. Meaning what it released by Vzw. An yea I do know bout the 5.1 firmware posted in the gpe ROM thread an did I try it no..

That answered my (unspoken) question---I will avoid that firmware & wait until the official firmware. Meanwhile, I'll keep trying to get CM 12.1 to work
