Yes, I have used this method with success, but what I asked was how I could keep my GSM unlock after flashing a ZVE.tot file, as installing TWRP on JB is a dead stump on XDA, bricked my stock recovery trying to install it. I have tried this method with a Kitkat update before, not sure which one, but the files I deleted were simply replaced after reboot, and it didn't work. Any help would be great

Flashing .tot will wipe everything so unlock goes away.. U will need to unlock again if u ever flash .tot

Ok got the tot file. Now when i try and flash it LG Flash tools is not seeing the phone.

You must have the drivers installed and in download mode. Then look in your device manager for com port. If lg isn't port 3, change it.
