I am currently using Straight talk service. When i turn the phone on it says ollen . This has been a problem since I got the phone. But I didn't talk or text much so it wasn't that big a deal ,to tell it to search for service every time I wanted to send a message. BUT now... I want to find a way to fix the problem. I am a phone NOOB! But I follow directions well.

There isn't a lot you can do about signal, it will be hit and miss. The LTE and 4G radio frequncies are different. That phone the "K" model should stay somewhat stable on tmobile amd AT &T. You can go into settings /connections / mobile networks / prefered networks and select 3G, that should help. For the international calling. Try going to settings / my device /call. There are a couple of international cll setting and aslo a catgory called more setting there. See if there are things you can adjust to straighten it out. I wish i could tell you more. I have been here in Korea 5 years and have a S4 and S5, but haven't tried using them back home yet. I also have a galaxy nexus i was able to use to make calls with when i was stateside a few years ago. Just popped in an AT&T prepaid simcard while i was hime visiting and it did OK. I honesty would have to sit down with it and play around in the settings. Hopefully this will give you a place to start. As for as the Olleh on the startup screen, thats the brand just like you would see AT&T if it were an AT&T phone. There is a way to change that but it would require a little bit of reprogramming. I have the same model so i will try to help you in any way i can as it will be a learning experience for me as well. I don't plan on coming back for at least another 2 years but i will need to know what to do when I get there.

If you are rooted you can go into the system folder and replace it with a different animation. There or plenty of threads her on how to. It shouldn't really even need to be an S4 specific thread. Its been a while since i messed with that. Back when I used my Note 1. I'm sure the technique is still the same.
