Touchless Triggers
New in version 3.0, you can automate settings and start summary readout using Touchless Triggers.
  • 1st column: trigger status:
    • Disable trigger: do not process (skip)
    • Process and continue: apply settings when all conditions are met, then continue with the triggers below
    • Process and stop: if conditions are met, the settings are applied, but no further triggers are processed
    • Restore on end: Settings are restored when conditions are no longer hold up
    • Restore then stop: No further triggers after processing or restoring this
  • 2nd column: conditions*(if more than one they are AND-ed)
    • Wifi (any, specific, connected / disconnected)
    • Bluetooth (any, any audio, specific, connected / disconnected)
    • Time interval*(see 5th trigger)
    • A specific moment in time*(see one but last trigger)
    • Day of the week
    • Charger (plugged/unplugged)
    • Desk Dock (connected/disconnected)
    • Car Dock (connected/disconnected)
    • Wired headphones (connected/disconnected)
    • Notification containing some specified text*(see last trigger)
    • More might come later (e.g. running app, active calendar entry, widget button press)
  • 3rd column: settings*to be applied (these are the same as are available in the Tasker plugin)
  • 4th column: whether to also do*summary*read-out (and delay)

Notes:
  • Any number of triggers (rows) can be created (they are OR-ed)
  • All triggers are applied whose conditions are met: order counts, later ones overwrite if concurrent settings (reorder by dragging)
  • Triggers can have any number of conditions (if>3 "..." is shown)
  • Tap conditions/settings/summary columns to modify (e.g. the settings modification will look like current Tasker plugin screen)
  • Long press and drag to the right to delete or duplicate
  • You can export your triggers to any note taking app using the share icon on the top
  • You can import triggers from any note taking app by sharing text to Touchless Notifications (appears in the share providers list) or by copying and pasting using the the upper right icon on the screen.
  • Active triggers have a green dot next to them in the trigger list
  • You can temporarily disable triggers from the menu option (press menu button on trigger screen)

One example: Silence TN for the night:
  1. add time condition from bed time to morning*
  2. add "immediate readout" setting = never*
  3. switch status (arrows) to both ways (Restore on end)
this way the car mode (whatever you had it set to before it got triggered) will be restored in the morning"

After the latest updates, the app no longer reads out my notifications while I'm connected to Bluetooth. I'm on a Galaxy S5. I haven't changed any settings for the app to not work. Did something change by default?

By latest updates you mean since 3.02? I made no changes in that part of the app. But you might need to disconnect, then reconnect your bluetooth headset (turn off then on) after an update, or reboot the phone.

I try to minimize the updates, because it causes the app to stop and restart, which is known to cause hiccups in the operation of the Notification Listener. Further more the only way to track active bluetooth connections is to count connects and disconnects, an app can get notified of these transients, but there is no function in Android which would tell an app what is connected at the moment. Because of this , my app will be unaware of existing connections if it gets restarted by an update.

See more info at stackoverflow.com: "There is no way to retrieve a list of connected devices at application startup. The Bluetooth API does not allow you to QUERY, instead it allows you to listen to CHANGES."

Change language to UK/Indian English
Starting with version 3.05 you can use English voices other than American (sorry it took so long :-H)

Here is how:
  • Start TN Settings app
  • Switch to Advanced Mode
  • Open the Voice I/O group of settings
  • Select Google TTS for the speech engine
  • Check "Secondary language"
  • Select your English voice language
Note: When using other second languages (French, German, Spanish, Polish etc), the English voice will still remain US. Let me know if this bothers you, I will then look for a better solution.
