Different sizes!?!
I unpacked my boot.img of my lenovo a936 note8 mtk6572 device,
edited default.prop (ro-secure=0...) and packed it again.
Everything was fine, no error or so.
But the sizes of the original and the new image have tremendous different sizes!?!
I don't dare to flash them. The boot.image of the attached screenshot was taken from a backup.
I tried the same with a copy of the kernel made via flashyfy.
The size changed from 8.305kb to exact the same size as you can see in the screenshot.

As I already said in my thread, my tool is not a reworked version of michfood's tool. Everything is different from binaries involved to the scripts used. I said I was inspired by michfood's tool in terms of functionality under windows, but I didn't copied anything from this.

help with packing boot.img
Hi
I am trying to unpack a boot.img for a Galax tab 4, but I seem to be having a few problems. The unpacking seems to be working but there is nothing in the ram disk folder as it shows on you tube. When ever I make the changes to default.prop ro.secure in notebook. I take the unpacked file, put on top of pack.bat & nothing happens. I have tried on windows 8 & vista.
Thanks, and please help

cpio.exe is not compatioble with your OS version.
Please try with Carliv Image Kitchen (more recent).
