run_program("/sbin/busybox", "dd", "if=/cache/splash.565", "of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12");

I'm confused about a couple things. First of all, it looks like starbase64 updated the android-info.txt as well as the code to create a .nb0 file instead of a .img file. However, my flash\splash.zip file contains a .img file and a very sparse android-info.txt. Was the dropbox link not updated, or am I missing something?

Also, for mainver, it looks like mine is 4.16.1540.8, which is significantly different from what's been mentioned so far. Not sure why, or if it matters. Do I just change it in android-info.txt or does it even matter? I read elsewhere that if it's flashed in fastboot it doesn't, but I don't want to take any chances.

Here's my info in case it helps:

(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 3.19.0.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 1.24.21331147A1.09G
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main: 4.16.1540.8
(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-OFF
(bootloader) serialno:
(bootloader) imei:
(bootloader) imei2: Not Support
(bootloader) meid: 00000000000000
(bootloader) product: m8_ul_ca
(bootloader) platform: hTCBmsm8974
(bootloader) modelid: 0P6B12000
(bootloader) cidnum: 11111111
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 0mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: off
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: 3aa067db
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0

Finally, what mode does the phone need to be in to do this. I've tried performing the backup both with the phone on and in fastboot, and neither did anything.

I know that this is late in the thread but I was hoping that someone could help me out.

I've tried to use this tool several times. I've been successful in creating a splash.zip but then it freezes when I attempt to flash it with option 2.

I read the posts where spash1.img had to be changed to splash1.nb0 so I did that and tried flashing manually using the commands described by thom109 in post #52. Still no dice.

Then I looked at the text in the android-info.txt file and after using 'getvar all', I noticed two discrepancies.

The one created by the tool reads:

modelid: PN0731000
cidnum: VZW__001
mainver: 1.10.605.8
btype:1
aareport:1
hbootpreupdate:3

Based on the 'getvar all' report, my modelid is 0P6B20000 and my mainver is 3.28.605.4. My bootloader version is 3.19.0.0000.

I read the posts mentioning supercid but I'm not familiar with it and I didn't want to go screwing around taking unnecessary risks.

I could really use some guidance. Anny assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

I downloaded the attached zip and it worked great on my M8. However, when I tried to flash after swapping the splash.565 with a png image that I converted using this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537515, it didn't quite work out.

The result was that my image was compress into 1/2 space at the top of the screen overlapping the Beats image in your preview.

Can you someone help me out?

Thanks.
