It seems like I'm doomed with LK8 since I can't get the phone to recognize the sim card with another modem

Same thing happening around here

Personally I have never used APN PRO on any rom I use. I edit the rom zip replacing /system/etc/apns-conf.xml file with one from 5.x aosp rom (even on tw roms). Then when rom is installed the apns are already there and automatically chosen for you. I started doing this back before the gsm mod because I have always used a different provider than sprint.

Hopefully this will help yall out.

Here is what worked for me after almost giving up.

Using this [ROM][4.4.4 TouchWiz][Note 4 Features] RainBow OS V6 in combination with LJ1 modem was the only way I could get this mod to work. Again its the only rom with working signal out of a few that I have installed.
By the way this rom rocks!

Hi guys, I just wanted to share my experience through this entire process.

I got an SPH-l900 and performed the GSM hardware modification.

After trying a lot of custom roms, all of the AOSP worked awesomely with mobile data, voice and messaging. TouchWiz custom roms did not, and I tried a lot of them. Regarding Stock roms, only MC2 stock firmware worked, and I somehow missed the TouchWiz interface when I used AOSP.

Today I decided to update to stock 4.4.2 using the file in the following link:

http://www.androidayos.com/2014/06/03/l900vpucne2-ota-update-4-4-2-kitkat-for-sprint-galaxy-note-2-l900/

After I updated the system, I rooted the phone using the following link:

http://www.androidayos.com/2014/06/06/root-l900vpucne2-4-4-2-kitkat-galaxy-note-2-l900-sprint-update/

Then I mkodified the build.prop file using Root Explorer apk as explained here:

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1193245

I added the following lines at the end of the file:

ril.sales_code=LOL
ro.csc.sales_code=LOL

Then added the APN settings as in any regular android device and ... IT WORKED!!!!
Everything does and awesomely.

If you have any doubts about any steps in the process just ask.

Hope to have made your day better!!! (I am from Argentina and using Personal services)

Finally, have my L900 up and running on GSM (HSPA, Voice, and text) after following above steps. Thank you :good:

I just have to install LK8 modem, because that default NE2 give me "invalid sim" error

If I do the hardware mod its my understanding that GSM mode will work. Is that compatible with Verizon? Trying to give my son a phone and add him to our Verizon plan.

I was able to get through this. I was working well on ATT's network via Cricket service. However, I don't want to use the stock rom at all. Too clunky. I flashed CryanogenMod 12.1 and it works well except I can't get anything above EDGE speeds, and don't get any incoming phone calls and I cannot hangup outgoing phone calls. I found a thread (http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/...l-alerts-and-outgoing-call-is-not-hanging-up/) on this which I was sort of scared to try, but wanted to see if anyone here found a way to get the slick CM 12.1 version on their Sprint phones converted to use GSM networks. Can I flash a GSM LTE version (t0lte)? The AT&T (t0lteatt) version is only up to 10.2.

I removed the phone version check from the t0lte version and was able to flash it onto my Sprint SPH-L900. That fixed the problems with receiving any calls, ending calls and the capped EDGE speed. However, now I'm having terrible voice service. I dropped 5 calls in under an hour. Anything I can do to improve this?

This Sprint phone was unusable for me with the CM12.1 software installed running on AT&T network. Using the NE2 modem, I couldn't carry on a call without it dropping. Voice service was terrible. I put my SIM in a native Cricket device and all those voice service problems went away. Something is up with the Sprint Note 2 on ATT in my case.

IN USA have L900
with a different MEID once used on boost mobile before the GSM/tmobile change.
Its on factory sprint rom 4.2.2
BB: L900VPUCHOH3
BUILD KOT49H. L900VPUCHOH3
Installed a GTN7100 SIM adapter

Went to network setting and changed to GSM prior to new sim module install.
and it wont read SD Cards it says black sd card inserted and all sims are invalid.
Changed back to CDMA after the old module was put back in. It was reading sd cards fine.

Do you think it was a bad module or perhaps the software isnt compatible with this latest update?

anyone have simmilar or different stories ?

You don't just change modules and it works, you have to do the domestic and international unlocks for the s4, after that the sim card will be recognized... Google is your best friend...

4g aka lte wont ever work because l900 only uses sprints lte bands which no gsm provider uses.

which APN Manger Pro to install

Hi,
Thanks for valuable information.
I am from India and I have SPHL900(SprinT) which i mistakenly bought on ebay and later noticed that it had no sim slot.I added the sim slot as you suggested. Now as you advised to install APN Manger PRO . Please suggest me which APN Manager APP. Actually there are as of now two applications on PLAY Store with name "APN Manager" and "APNmanager" (notice that the space is missing in 2nd application).
Also when i tried to put a gsm sim (without APN and Titanium applications installed) Phone says "Invalid SIm".

Please guide me .

Thanks,
Gagan

THESE ARE THE STEP BY STEP THINGS I HAVE DONE TO MAKE MY SPRINT NOTE 2 SPH-L900 INTO A TRUE WORLD PHONE!!!!!
if this looks weird sorry its my first thread.

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1959005 was the original thread but all my posts were cluttered and i just want to make one that shows the step by step of how i made my Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 2 SPH-L900 into a true CDMA/GSM world phone.

BASIC INFO ON WHAT I HAVE DONE:
    1 ROOTED USING ODIN
2 SWITCH GSM MODULE OF N7100 (which will cause you to lose sprints 4G LTE)
    3 TITANIUM BACKUP PRO
    4 APN MANAGER PRO

CLICKING THANKS WOULD BE APPRECIATED HAHAHAH

EACH STEP FOR THE HARDWARE MOD HAS AN ATTACHED PICTURE

step 1 remove screws/remove sd card
step 2 i lined up the new module's sim and marked points for cutting later
    step 3 remove back plate
step 4 remove the connection then remove old LTE and sd card module. you can just peel this off but it is attached with a 2 sided tape. it is pretty sticky i used a credit card to pry it off so there would not be any scratches and prevent bending the part.
step 5 install new module with sim adapter. ( i peeled off a piece of 2 sided take from the old module and used it to stick the new one on)
step 6 i cut the back plate using a dremel tool
step 7 you see that white circle with the "L1" right below the sd card hole, that actually will interfere with the new module so you have to cut some more off
step 8 this is how i cut the part off.
step 9 install back plate ( i had to fine tune the cuts with a nail file before installing the back plate perfectly. )
step 10 install back sim card and battery.

WITH THE TALK/TEXT AND DATA THIS IS WHAT I DID

If with in the USA you have to choose CDMA in you mobile network setting. doing this i have found that i am still able to connect to 3G and roam data and talk/text

when you use your simcard you have to swith to GSM/UMTS

I HAVE NOT TRIED IT WITH ATT OR TMOBILE well i lied i actually tried my international sim here in Washington dc and in new york but i would not recognize any of the networks it can roam on. maybe because its only att and tmobile that my sim would roam on.

I DONT CARE ABOUT ATT OR T-MOBILE I DID THIS MOD TO TURN MY NOTE 2 INTO TRUE A WORLD PHONE.

    WARNING!!!!!!
You will lose sprints 4g connectivity (we all know that by now) but 3g will still work if you choose CDMA only in the network settings.
    WARNING!!!!!!

    What you need:
    ROOTED NOTE 2
APN SETTINGS FOR THE NETWORK SIMCARD YOU"RE USING
    Titanium Backup PRO
    APN MANAGER PRO
both have to be pro versions!!!![/B]

Step 1: Download and install both apps
Step 2. Open Titanium Backup app then hit the “Backup/Restore” tab.
Step 3. Find “APN Manager PRO” and press and hold the icon.
Step 4. tap “Convert to system app”.
Step 5. Once converted, close Titanium Backup Pro and open APN Manager PRO, it might be changed to “ale.android.apnmanager…”
Step 7. You will need to insert the APN settings for your carrier. Sometimes, you may have to search a bit more to find all the necessary information, make sure you insert the correct MCC and MNC values.
Step 8. Once inserted, you can press “Swap APN” and choose the new APN and the Sprint APN so you can easily switch between the two APNs.
Step 9. Once you travel to another country, you can swap your SIM card out. Go to Mobile Network settings and chose GSM/UMTS
Step 10. Open up APN Manager PRO and simply hit “Swap APN”.
Step 11. If you used the correct APN values for the SIM you are using, you should be getting either 3G, G, H, H+ HSPA+, or 4G LTE (if you use 4G LTE SIM).

That is it!! now you have a legit world phone!!!!

    i attached some screenshots.

Thanks to eliasmanu for testing all the Sprint radios/basebands. The ones that he found to work are LJ1, LJC, and LK8.

Link where you can get Sprint & International GSM APN's combined in one huge APN xml file can be found when you CLICK HERE

    working 100%

I can confirm this method DOES WORK! I'm on Iusacell network getting H+ 21.6Mb/s.

Remember, you must be in compatible modem, I'm using LK8, flashed zip through CWM.

No need to mess with APN apps, just root your device and add the following two lines at the end of the build.prop file in /system

    ril.sales_code=LOL
    ro.csc.sales_code=LOL

With that, you will see the "Access Point Names" option in Mobile Networks, which will allow you to add your APN easily.

pdagarcia;52799072 qHow did you get the domestic unlock? Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app[/QUOTE said:
Root, downgrade to MA7, run the S4 international unlock, follow the steps in the S4 domestic unlock guide and disable ENS, you will have to select the network maturely but it works

Here it is in black and white. You can't use the Sprint Note 2 on AT&T, T-Mobile, Straight Talk, h2o, NET10, RedPocket, Simple Mobile, or any other US based GSM carrier or MVNO. You can use the Sprint Note 2 on Sprint's CDMA network and any GSM provider outside of the US.

The Verizon Note 2 can be used on Verizon's CDMA network and on ANY GSM carrier... including those in the US and outside the US.

I hope that clears it up for everyone.
