Oh well. No rooting for me.

Same thing happened to me... Only this phone was given to me by work so rooting it's only hope of survival. Looks like I'm going back to the turbo.

You saved me from several days worth of headaches with this comment. Thank you! I just flashed the stock NCG kernel with odin and then I was able to download towelroot to root, then supersu, busybox, and safestrap to get SS going and boom... back in business with a rooted 4.4.2 with Sinfulrom.

My phone got stolen so I had to activate an old Galaxy S5 I had lying around as a backup device. I am lost without root but am not too sure if I can even root the device on the current build. The build number I am on is BPB1 (those are the last 4 characters of the build number).

Trying to find an answer...
Recently received ins replacement GS5 900V with 5.0, build PB1 and Kernel date Feb 2016. I have gained root using instructions in a thread on here somewhere using the Lolli version of Safestrap.

However, I don't care for Lolli, and want to go back to KitKat, keeping root. Can this be done, and if so, how?

Can I use the current Safestrap I used for rooting 5.0? Busybox and SU are installed.

What are instructions for downgrading from rooted 5.0 to KitKat 4.4.4, keeping root?

Thank you.
