Q: I have a European version of HTC M8 which is currently S-ON and with a locked bootloader, also i am running MM(Not tampered in any kind of way). Now i intend to flash a fresh firmware on it, as i already have S-ON with a locked bootloader, so do i need to first unlock my bootloader then relock it so i can flash the firmware or do i simply proceed without unlocking it?

Hi can someone please help with this error message while trying to update firmware. My mid and cid match the firmware im trying to flash.
C:\android>fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
target reported max download size of 182641
error: cannot load 'firmware.zip': No error
Update, no worries i figured out what it was. Thx for reading anyway.
It good forum etiquette, when you figure it out yourself, to post the solution for the benefit of others that may have the same problem.
That error typically means you either didn't put the firmware.zip file in the right place (needs to be in same folder as fastboot.exe) or else you have Windows option enabled to hide file extensions, and unknowingly renamed the file: firmware.zip.zip (I highly recommend to turn off the option to hide known file extensions in Control Panel>Folder Options).
