Is this phone network unlocked? can it be unlocked?

I'm on vodafone with my htc magic, stuck in contract for over a year, so wouldn't mind a cheap upgrade for the time being.

It is locked but you can buy an unlock code for 1.50 off ebay

The 2.2 froyo rom is up on MoDaCo, mighty fine it is too. No probs really on it for me.

I am on modaco r 4 but i herad tye resoulution was wrong on 2.2?

Someone posted a version with the resolution fixed.

Fixing the resolution is simple too - just a tweak of a single line in build.prop that relates to the LCD resolution from [iirc] 160 to 240. I did it yesterday, took all of two minutes with ADB and Vi (I was on a Mac).

We do need a thread for this phone I bought it for my kid and I use it from time to time. It does need more support as he loves to fiddle with rom's and stuff just like his dad :')
