Default 3.29 and 3.30 software revision

I wasn't sure about posting this in development, but since almost every ROM is built on 3.30, I thought it better here for developers to see it. If I am wrong, I'm sorry, and please move this.

Came across this on android central.

http://www.androidcentral.com/new-sp...ftware-version

Sprint Evos sold in November will have a different software (3.30) version number due to a parts difference. I know most of us have the older evos, but most of the ROMs out are based on 3.30. I haven't had any problems that I notice, but I did want to let the developers know.

this explains why my camera app breaks every time i run a custom kernel. i just got my evo 2 days ago brand new from sprint. ive seen a few other report this too.

maybe the kernels have to be updated? i have a 0003 version evo. i first thought this could be because of the new s-off unlocker i ran.

I was just about to post about this. I just got my Evo yesterday and it took forever for me to root for some reason or another, wasn't sure if it was the new version of the phone. When I finally did root and unlock NAND, I had the same issue as fixxxer... every time I tried a custom kernel, my camera would stop working... too bad... i wanted to OC mine...

For those with the new hardware (camera), is the quality any better? 720p any better?

i dunno as i didn't have a evo before. the camera looks very crisp and clear to me. but as i said if you flash any custom over4clock kernel other than stock the camera & camcorder app breaks.

I'm wondering how the new kernel affects those with the older evo's. Are we missing anything by using it? I'm getting great battery life on it, but I really haven't used the camera much. Now to start testing.....
Probably a good person to ask would be calkalin (forgot how to spell it), but he's always up on that stuff.

have you tried flashing an older stock kernel, say from 3.29? I'm interested in knowing if the stock kernels are backward compatible.
