Default Kernels via Rom manager

Hey folks.

Read in XDA, in many threads, that in the premium version of Rom manager you are able to download and flash a new kernel.

Apparently you go into Rom manger settings, enable "developer mode" then where you would usually download Cyanogen roms, you should also be able to download kernels for it.
My problem is this; I have the premium version of Rom Manager, I bought it about 2 weeks ago, I can go into settings but I don't have the option to enable "developer mode" just an enable "advanced mode"? I'm presuming they are the same but even after a restart it doesn't give me any options to download any kernels from anywhere?
I've emailed the dev but had no response in over a week so can anyone else help me?
Thanks in advance.

HTC Desire. Cyanogen 6.1.1 S-ON.
SONY Z Ultra C6833 - Stock for now!

Why dont you just search for the Kernal you want, copy it to the root of your sd card ... at this stage you could use rom manager if you really want to to enter into recovery, select install zip from sd, select the kernal you downloaded and your sorted!!

There is really no reason to feel so bound to Rom Manager(although it may be useful at first) as you can do everything yourself and with more controll over your device.

Cheers man. That method would suite me best. Have you any tips on where I can get the kernels from outside of Rom manager?

Will they just come as a zip file ready to be flashed?

Search here on xda, if you want cynogen specific kernals and advise on which kernals give the best performance, battery life etc i would suggest you have a look at the cynogen thread and ask around abit in there if anything isnt certain.
Yes they come as zip files already
