You mean the meter is jumping from 100% to whatever the "real" reading should be (like 20%, since you said you drained to shutdown)? If so, that is indeed odd.
Also, the battery itself doesn't need to be calibrated. Its just calibrating the batter meter (setting high and low flags). Not sure if you just have the semantics wrong, or if you actually think you are doing something to the battery (which many mistakenly believe, its not like the older tech NiCad batteries, which need to be conditioned periodically).
