Here's my review of the Incipio EDGE Hard Case: (Originally written for 'Felimenta97'):
DESIGN:
In a nutshell, the Incipio EDGE hard case (Iridescent Gray is the color I purchased for my white LT26i) is beautiful even if you look at it from a mile away. Honestly, this is a beautiful looking case. The cuttings are so nicely designed and executed that the phone actually looks even more aesthetically pleasing than it's original (already mind-bobbingly pretty) build look. And although it may look plain from the screen shots, it actually looks professional and top-class when in hand and viewed in person. Sure, it does add a bit of bulk, but even if it tried, it still wouldn't (and doesn't) make the XS look any less soothing to look at.
The case is a 2 piece slider case, which means the transparent bar that is one of the XS's iconic features is entirely visible. This is something that even the Nilkin lacks with its half view of the transparent bar. When I get a call, the bar flashes its sexy blue color which the case uncensors perfectly. And to prevent the case from looking like a cheap back cover, it crawls on the front of the phone as well - adding protection and making sure anyone who looks at it immediately realizes that the XS is one mean phone when paired with this case.
BUILD QUALITY & PROTECTION:
Now that the design is out of the way, let's talk about the build quality of the case and if it has the ability to complete the job it was made for - protecting the phone in general.
When held in hand, you can tell straight away that the XS has one hell of a protective case wrapped around it - and that sure is what is present. The bulkiness may bug you if the extra slimness of the XS is a feature you die for, so be warned. Other than that, the feel of the case is nice and rigid. I especially enjoyed the fact that for a butter fingers like me, the slippery body of the XS is no longer there to haunt me when I have the EDGE wrapped around it. Incipio done a good job in making sure the case felt good in hand and removed any chances of it feeling slippery. And no, it does not hurt or feel uncomfortable at all.
The case has a great snug fit. As mentioned before, it's a two-piece slider. So, all you have to do is slide the phone in the top, larger piece upwards until you feel resistance from the top portion. Then, simply slide the bottom part on the phone until both pieces of the transparent bar intersect with each other until congruency is matched - very easy installation, though sort of difficult to take off but luckily, it doesn't require any wrestling unlike the Case Mate extra protective case.
The front wrapping on the phone enables the phone's lushes screen to save itself from grinding against the surface it's placed on when kept upside down. This is indeed a necessary feature for any case to have. I tested the shock protection capability of the case in general by dropping it from a few heights no higher than my waste - it survived without a scratch on marble floor. VERY satisfied in that field. Although I would still like the case to be like the lineup Incipio released for the Ion - the ones with silicon/soft gel interior and hard exterior. Such Otterbox mock offs remove any doubt one may have regarding security. Well, for me atleast.
LASTING APPEAL:
This case is great. I'm glad I didn't pick up anything else and researched thoroughly before I tried any of them. For now, I'm not thinking about getting another case until this one's cracked up and beated brutally - which may never happen.
VERDICT:
- PROS:
+ Superb build quality.
+ Nice, professional look.
+ Good, secure feel in hand.
+ Should protect the phone well.
+ Cutouts are perfect; no interference with pressing the buttons.
+ The 3 colors it's available in are all really nice.
- CONS:
- Slightly bulky; can make one dislike it if a slimness fanatic.
- Not as fancy as other cases looks wise.
