Default [Q]Roms and kernals

I'm totally new to my thunderbolt and i've just freshly rooted it after noticing bad battery life. Now i'm not totally new to flashing roms and everything, as my last phone was a Motorola cliq and i put c-mod on it.

But looking around i'm so lost on kernels and roms and radios. all i ahd to do before was just a rom. Its not hard installing them but matching what works with what is frustrating since i don't know where to start.

Does anyone know a good rom and or kernal that removes bloat ware and gives better battery performance? Any installation tips thats needed to get it on please let me know. I assume the order is rom and then kernal and then radios.

thanks!

EDIT: the rom that caught my eye was this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1227493

Well, the way kernel and roms will react is different to every phone. The best kernels right now imo is imoseyons and ziggys kernel, you just flash them in recovery as you would a Rom. For radio, again different for everyone, you'll just have to test them all tbh, be careful with flashing them they can brick your phone and you flash them in the bootloader not recovery. If you need help with flashing just let me know, I think there's a tutorial stickied but its 1:30 am. Just my 2 cents

DONATE TO ME
Default ROMs and Kernels

I usually stick to just flashing a ROM. Some come with good kernels and radios already in them. I would suggest using either thunderstick, BAMF, or cyanogenmod ROMs.
It's an old ROM, but I am currently running thunderstick bareback. I get great signal, battery life (after calibrating/removing battery stats), and my GPS works perfectly. It did remove all of the bloatware also.
You can install App Quarantine. I love this app.
It doesn't exactly uninstall certain apps, but it will keep them from running. Also once quarantined, it removes the apps from the app drawer. Just a nice way to save battery and clean up some space from apps you don't use.

Try flashing different ROMs and see what all you like.
If you insist on flashing different radios and kernels... as Watoy said, it can brick your phone if you're not careful.
Always make a backup and you should be fine!! Lol.
Good luck.
