Charging problem HTC touch pro2

What could be the problem if I can`t charge it when the phone is on,but if I turn off the phone and charge it,it charges.PS:When the phone is on,it shows that it charges.

How long will your battery last if you charge it while the phone is off? There is a slight possibility that it's your battery, I mean your phones battery . But there is also a possibility that the charger is not supplying enough juice to both run the phone and charge the battery at the same time. So when your phone is on and connected to the charger, the phone would be sucking all the juice that the charger can provide. Did you try a different charger?

My battery will last almost 2 days without playing or surfing on the internet
