So, my Kindle Fire is up and running now...
Earlier this week, I downloaded the latest update.bin for the 8.9, and manually flashed boot.img and recovery.img from that package to my Kindle with no success. Today, on a while, I flashed boot-prod.img to boot and recovery-prod.img to recovery, and rebooted.
It took a long time to start, but something odd was happening. It didn't go right into the red wipe and flashboot, it went to an animated Kindle Fire logo, where a diagonal shine moves across the logo. Previously while I've been having this issue, I just got a static logo then fastboot. It restarted a few times but after about 2 minutes I got to the Kindle wifi entry screen. I put in the wifi info and got to registration, then registered and after a minute I was at the carousel intro screens and then onto the carousel.
I just downloaded ES Explorer and configured it to use root. I hit Yes and up popped the SU request box. So I guess I am successfully rooted. I want to play around and see if anything else seems to be out of the ordinary - it seems a little slow but I want to continue to check that.
Thanks,
George
I believe I do have it installed and now that I'm at work ill have to wait until next week sometime to mess with it. Now SDK is installed on my computer and not the kindle itself.. Correct? I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thank again for you prompt response and the work you guys do in this forum!! Much appreciated!!
lacoursiere18,
Thank you for taking the time to post your gratitude towards our work, we do appreciate it!
Ok.. So I am at work.. installed adb drivers successfully, installed your software successfully. ADB recognizes my device. gives me the numbers.. I used your commands and it came up. I run the software and still get..sh: /data/local/backup.sh: No such file or directory.. So I'm not sure whats going on? Thanks in advance
adb push backup.sh /data/local/backup.sh
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/backup.sh
adb shell su -c "/data/local/backup.sh"

ggggeo,
Great work ggggeo! This proves something serious is happening to the Kindle Fire HD 8.9". Did you obtain these two images from the Update.bin package? This is an ugly bug! Wow, wow wooooooow. Yes, our image does include Root, so you are correct in the assumption. I will add these two images to our database image and change the code to flash these two on the Kindle Fire HD 8.9". I am going to change the code to get the Kindle Fire 8.9" into Fastboot too, maybe the HD 8.9" does not like the command we have been using for the last year. I am sure Amazon did something to lock down the Bootloader in an attempt to stop people from using Fastboot on the Kindle Fire HD 8.9"! Anyways, I am so glad to hear you found the solution. Thanks ggggeo!
No problem guys.. I still can't back up my kindle though.. Gettin same text no such file or directory?????
Thanks Yes, I got the boot-prod.img and recovery-prod-img from the 8.1.4 Amazon update.bin file which I downloaded right from their Kindle support site. If you want me to test the new version in the next day or so I would be happy to do so since I now have a second replacement kindle that Amazon sent me and I have 30 days to send this one back (and test the heck out of in the mean time.)
Thanks,
George
Hollaback12786,
We are changing the code as we speak, should be uploaded in 10 minutes allowing everyone to use the Kindle Fire First Aide! Yeah, we are ssooooooooooooooo happy Hollaback12786. We are happy to have you back Hollaback12786.
lacoursiere18,
OK, let try something new, open a command prompt inside the Kindle Fire First Aide Folder and type the following command:
Press enter after each command and let me know the results. If the backup is triggered it will take 10 minutes or so.Code:adb push backup.sh /data/local/backup.sh adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/backup.sh adb shell su -c "/data/local/backup.sh"
lacoursiere18,
Just FYI, we monitor 128 threads and work from 10am to 2am plus we have 500 active customers to keep happy, so our response time can be delayed a bit although we will always respond.
ggggeo,
That would be great, give us 2 hours to change the code and test it on 2 internal HD 8.9" then I will publish the changes. Give us until 3:08pm PST GMT -8. We will post the update here in this thread.
Glad to have you back! Sucks that your pc caught a virus i haven't gotten in touch with Skorp yet about making a fastboot cable for my hd7, cant seem to find a few of my usb cables

No problem guys sorry I was having trouble viewing post on the forum.. I think its the computer at work.. Take your time no rush
adb kill-server
adb start-server
adb shell su -c "chmod 777 /data/local/backup.sh"
adb shell su -c "/data/local/backup.sh"
lacoursiere18,
Now we are making headway! The first response tells us the file is being Pushed successfully, the second line and the third are key. Let's try this:
Code:adb kill-server adb start-server adb shell su -c "chmod 777 /data/local/backup.sh" adb shell su -c "/data/local/backup.sh"
The above will solve your problem. We are adding an option to have another copy backup directly to your workstation. The above saves the backup on the virtual SD Card.
We will change our code pointing to absolute path. Thank you for taking the time to help us solve this issue.
Stuck at root@android:/#
with a blinking indicator.. and i can't add anything
EDIT: I am going to come up with a plan so you can build you own Factory Cable. I recently posted a method but after rethinking it, I do not believe it will work. Let me think about it some more. lolGlad to have you back! Sucks that your pc caught a virus i haven't gotten in touch with Skorp yet about making a fastboot cable for my hd7, cant seem to find a few of my usb cables

I get errors that the file exists in an otherwise empty directory, twice. I've attached screen shots. I've tried using both winrar and 7-zip and gotten the error both times.
