Hi The name is Devon. I am a complete nub wanting to know more about android and yay first post! :) lol
I am posting a thread to ask is there a difference between the officially branded htc one x and the carrier version (e.g AT&T) htc one x ?
Are there difference in the stock roms (based on carrier) and also what are the requirements to install/upgrade from a stock rooted rom 4.0.4 to jelly bean 4.2.2 ? To flash a newer rom, must the hboot be upgraded ?

My device is an unlocked AT&T HTC One X with superCID and S-Off running rooted stock rom 4.0.4 (Ice cream sandwich) with TWRP custom recovery. I live in Barbados and my current service provider is LIME. I wish for some response asap as I would like to install one of the jelly bean roms, either 4.2 or 4.3. I would like to know as much as possible. Thank you and have a good day :)

My thanks to you kindly,
Devon or NZXTBourne

Big difference. Stay in the forum for your model.

Start of in the CM10 thread and follow the steps.

Each step will require you to search the forums to understand what they're asking you to do.

As you search you will find the best thread in which to ask specific questions.

Good luck!

The two phones look very similar but on the inside they're completely different. This means nothing from the HTC One X (Endeavoru) forum is compatible with your phone, and will likely brick it. Basically make sure you stay in our forum which is here:

http://xdaforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538

Bookmark that page and make sure you stay within it, and make sure you only download ROMs/kernels/radios/mods from the two development sections within it.

In order to flash the ROMs you mentioned you probably need to update your firmware. To confirm this I need to see your bootloader details, post the first five lines please.

The screen isn't the issue, the older ts firmware is compatible with newer ROMs. It's the other way round that's a problem. Plus, if he's stock rooted there's no reason his screen wouldn't work anyway. It's actually the firmware modules contained in the RUU that are important.

Thank you for the reply. My apologies for not mentioning in my post that I wish to keep the Sense functionality on my phone. Please correct me if I am wrong but I am sure that CM removes Sense. Thanks again for your response.

Thanks. You need to run the 3.18 RUU to upgrade your firmware, and then flash the 2.15 firmware package. You'll find the RUU here:

http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_..._10.130.32.34_release_signed_With_Partial.exe

You'll find detailed instructions for running an RUU in this thread:

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2593037

Once you've completed that you can find the 2.15 firmware with instructions in the first post of this thread:

I think it is the software information
Settings --> About --> Software Information
And no you are not jaking the thread or anything.

This is actually incorrect, at least in light of what aaron.a is asking. Thing is, the term "firmware" is confusing. He actually seems to be asking about all the modules aside from the actual ROM that get installed with an official RUU or OTA, which include hboot, media modules, touchscreen firmware, radio, etc. What you are giving instruction to check is simply the ROM or OS version, which is actually independent from the other firmware modules (particularly if you have been modding the phone.

Hi The name is Devon. I am a complete nub wanting to know more about android and yay first post!

Back to your original post, the absolute best thing you can do as a n00b is READ READ READ (and did I mention read?).

Especially since it seems that you bought the device used, and bootloader unlocked, and s-off, its extremely important that you have good understanding of what those things mean before attempting any type of modification. In particular, s-off means all security checks are off, meaning that flashing the wrong file can brick your device as the safety checks that would for instance normally prevent you from flashing a potentially fatal (to your device) file (such as a ROM for another device) are now being completely bypassed.

So just do yourself a big favor and take a few hours to read, research, and gain a good understanding of the lingo, concepts, and steps before trying any type of mod on your phone.

Start with my Index threads, and also the very useful threads maintained by timmaaa:

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1671237

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2593382

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2136172

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2567916

All of these threads are sticky (pinned) to the top of either the General or Q&A forum sections.

I just do what I'm told in the cm threads since most roms rely on cm dev, so if its not specifically detailed in our cm thread.. lazy (or just good at conserving energy)

My touchscreen doesn't work on cm10 so I assumed he hadn't ruu'd.

Choice advice bro. Much read. Many knowledgeable. #happyface

Must my bootloader be relocked in order to use the RUU ?

No, because you're s-off you don't need to relock, just run the RUU. Your unlocked bootloader and s-off status will survive the process so after it's done you just need to flash TWRP recovery again and then you can flash your ROM. If you need any guides you'll find them in my How-To Guide For Beginners thread, link in my signature.

OMG THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH !!!! I love you man (no homo)
It is running but sometimes my data drops out but when I checked the link for 2.15 firmware there was a link on that page that carried me to a page that relates to some kernel but i am lost as to how to attain the file and how to install it. I was also wondering if you know of any custom roms for 4.2.2 that I can install on my phone please? I found one called aokp mr1 build for 4.2.2 that I found on youtube from zedomax a.k.a High on android (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnfGam6JY9c) was wondering if you could check this please. Thanks

Don't worry about the kernel, just flash the firmware. You'll find the firmware is on the first page of this thread:

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=45122768

That aokp ROM dev doesn't look familiar to me, don't flash it. A quick word of advice: don't go searching all over the web for ROMs, other sites don't properly distinguish between our phone and the HTC One X (Endeavoru). They're two completely different phones and flashing the wrong ROM can brick a device. The only place you ever need to be is XDA. Our device main page is here:

http://xdaforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538

Bookmark that page and stay within it. You'll see two development sections there, Android Development (mostly Sense ROMs) and Original Android Development (aosp ROMs). Every compatible ROM for our device can be found in either of those two sections.

Is there any particular reason you were looking at a 4.2 ROM? That's pretty old now in the world of Android seeing as we're up to 4.4 KitKat now.

I have some detailed instructions on basic flashing operations in my How-To Guide For Beginners thread, the link is in my signature. If you decide that you want to flash a KitKat ROM you will need to install a different recovery. The one you're looking for is the unofficial modified TWRP 2.6.3.0 by jrior001 which can be found in the first couple of pages of our Original Android Development section. It's a very easy thing to do, just check out my guide thread.

I can't stop thanking you and everyone else that is with xda and also those who have posted. Thank you soo much yet again. I am running the 2.15 firmware now and I don't seem to having any problems with the radio and data signal. Will make another post if the issue arises again. :) I was wondering if it is possible for me to try the ElementalX kernel: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2061577
