Looks good!
Does anyone know whether run keeper works without any hiccups on the motoactv?
Thanks

I used it a little bit, and it was difficult because it didn't scale well to the small screen. I prefer to use Google My Tracks or GPS essentials for tracking my runs - they both work great!

Just a thought to enhance device capabilities & compatibility

Since we all know that the MotoACTV is running Android 2.3 & the Sony Ericsson LiveView wristwatch is running Android 2.0, why can't we port the Sony Ericsson's LiveView wristwatch apps to the MotoACTV ? The LiveView apps are very useful specially on the small limited screen and the mobile phone sync capabilities are amazing.

Some ideas that crossed my mind:

- Using the BT stack provided with LiveView wristwatch to extend MotoACTV's bluetooth profiles.

- Using the LiveView's sync apps on MotoACTV to sync Android mobile phones.

- Enabling handsfree calls through Mic/headphone gateway via Bluetooth... (That would be awesome) "I'm" Android wristwatch already does this...

The beauty of MotoACTV is that it's rooted and opened wide now. So we could literally do whatever we want and upgrade it the way we see fit.

I also support the idea of opening a separate section for the MotoACTV to organize our collective effort into one huge resource center instead of having several scattered forums and blogs.

You should be hearing from me soon after I get my MotoACTV :-D

Good luck to you all.

^ I agree with the above statement and have voted for the creation of a motoactv section.

Now, I've been having a lot of issues with google services framework and etc crashing/force closing in the background. Did I miss a step installing the google apps?

No, you didn't miss anything. The gapps aren't quite working on the MotoACTV. We have a bounty for anyone that gets us a working version. If you want to contribute, the link is in my signature.

Hey Im pretty new to the forum and the Motoactv is my first android device. This was my first android root and I completed it! I was pretty happy and I even put angry birds on it as a test app but I just ran into a problem today that I cant think of how to fix it and I need some help. When I rooted the device I installed the honeycomb launcher just to try it out as Im new to android but I realized Id be much happier with Zeam so I installed Zeam and but nothing changed on the motoactv. Then I looked and it showed Zeam as an app that I could launch and I could switch between the two launchers. I didn't like that though because it took most my ram and processing power to run both of those at the same time. So I thought why don't I Factory reset my device and start new and fresh so I wont have any glitches from before. Anyway here is my problem; after I tried to reset my device the device ran out of battery. Now the device will only turn on only if it is turned on through the fastboot but the fastboot wont do anything because all it displays is battery low and that it cant do anything. Now if I plug in my device to the ac adapter the led wont shine and the device wont charge but, if I plug the device into my computer it will light up for 10 min or so until it turns on and the red Motorola icon pops up but then the moto icon wont move like it normally does when it starts up it just stays the same and then the device will shut off with a couple of minutes because it wont charge when the device starts up. So I am stuck because every time I try to charge the device it will start up and then turnoff and repeat. I was thinking if there is some way of charging it so that I can install a fresh new system.img. Or if I should try to do something else but please help me! Thanks and I'm glad to see this device get some dedicated fans.

Just plug it into the wall charger and wait about 30 minutes to an hour or so. You'll be able to boot it from there.

Just plug it into the wall charger and wait about 30 minutes to an hour or so. You'll be able to boot it from there.

When I plug it in the wall the device it immediately powers up but it sticks to the red Motorola icon and the charging light wont light up. Also I cant shut down the device and put it in fastboot mode when it is plugged into the wall. Another thing is that the Motorola icon doesn't "pulse" or move like it normally does when it starts up it just stays as the icon and does not change at all. The second I unplug the device from the wall it just turns off due to not having any battery left, but I cant charge it!

The MotoACTV apk is extremely limited if you don't own a motorola phone. I have an Evo 4G and also have the notifications, but phone calls and calendar events don't work. I believe this is only for Motorola phones.

The MotoACTV software is kinda worthless to me, doesn't work with Google Voice, Market Updates, etc.

Anyone try the hacked Motoactv.apk alongside their modded units? I have it loaded on my Evo 3D and so far...it just works to let me know I missed a call. Texts (using handcent) aren't coming thru and no "answer" prompt. Wondering if it was just me.

Update: got the call feature working with a reboot. Texts; make sure "privacy" isn't checked in options as it's set yes by default.
how did you get it to work on the evo 3d mines can receive text notifications but cant get the incoming or missed calls

so i may not post much but i just bought a motoactv(still might return it).

any chance a dedicated forum could be made for this little thing? It might stir up more interest in dev for the device. it could have some nice potential in the right hands.

install the motoactv app from the market. the bionic doesnt technically support the actv but with the market app it bring full functionality.

So I finally got the watch setup for what I originally purchased it for... WarDriving and Wifi Penetration!

Below are the apps I am using and why.
WiGLE Wifi Wardriving
- Doesn't require Google Maps
- Upload to online profile
- Export to Google Maps
- Import Wifis from website

Wifi Analyzer
- Shows strength of all wireless networks around
- When I find open Wifi with Wigle, use this to get the strongest signal I can

Network Discovery
- Scans all devices on the network
- Shows Hostname, IP Address, MAC Address
- Port Scanner

Router Keygen
- Calculate the default WEP/WPA pass for numerous router types

Wifi Kill
- Kicks other wireless devices off the network
- Prevents wired devices from being able to access internet

Now as I drive around throughout the day doing service calls, all the Wifi Access Points I come across are logged. I get back home, upload to Wigle account, export to KML for Google Maps and I have a list of every Access Point I passed for the day.

All work well and do what I expect from them. If anyone else has any more suggestions, please let me know.

    CWMR ported

    Hello,

I have ported CWMR 5.0.2.7 to the Motoactv (F100) device.

    actvcmwr.png

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

The procedure for this is as follows. You MUST have working adb knowledge to use this and you must be able to restore using the available tool should any problems arise. This is considered an ALPHA release that may need additional work. I did not have access to the device during the port so all testing was done through TheEndGame7. THERE MAY BE ISSUES, you are warned.

    1) Download this file: CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img
    2) adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img /data/local/
    3) adb shell (become root)
    4) dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    5) exit adb from the device
    6) adb reboot recovery (you should be in CWMR now)

The source for the device config is here. Please feel free to go wild with development on this because I do not have the device and likely won't be contributing much more except bug fixes. If you use this source, please give credit where it's due.

NOTE: there are missing images(known). This is because the ramdisk is EXTREMELY finicky on this device and it WILL NOT BOOT past 3.66mb in size. I trimmed out things that weren't needed in order to make this work. The basic functionality you need should be there. adb is also not functioning properly yet within recovery.

    MotoACTV Easy Modder v0.1

    Post removed, see below.

Well, it was a *****, but here is build 2, moving to Beta at this point in 'Moto red' by request of TEG.

    ayu6vRFV

There is 1 lingering issue: usb support in recovery. It is a bastard, going to really have to tear this thing apart to debug why. Right now, recovery can backup, restore, wipe, flash roms, etc. All the stuff you're used to working, now does. I fixed images by shrinking the kernel to fit more stuff in here. You should no longer get any weird image errors. I bumped you up to 5.0.2.8 source as well.

Flash this file the same as before via adb and dd.
    CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img

    adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img /data/local/
    adb shell
    # dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    # exit
    adb reboot recovery

Some additional notes I'd like to share that might help you as you mess with this device now that I've played with one.

    1) NEVER use adb reboot bootloader for any reason. You get stuck in a ****tily programmed loop of hell. The way out of this loop is by following these instructions:

    a) hold START, POWER, VOL UP, VOL DOWN together for 10 seconds at least. You should see the screen flicker on and off twice.
    b) plug in the USB cable to turn device on
    c) you should boot back to rom, if not, do it again. It's touchy.

    2) The 'soft' reset is done by START + POWER for 5 seconds.

Enjoy. Source is updated. This will likely be the last update unless I get adb working.

Attached is the latest copy of my MotoACTV Easy Modder v1.0. This is a MAJOR upgrade! Adds numerous features and completely revises how backups are stored on the computer. Need to use 7zip to extract it, wouldn't let me upload that big of a .zip file.

To make this version see your old backups, open your IMGs folder, make a new folder (no spaces), drag all your old .img files into it.

    ChangeLog:
    v1.0 Updated 1/16/12
    - Redesigned GUI
    - Integrated SuperOneClick (Very basic at the moment)
    - Backup (Boot, Recovery, System, Cache, Userdata, All)
    - Restore (Boot, Recovery, System, Cache, Userdata, All)
    - Added more Button Remaps (21 configurations)
    - Run Custom ADB commands
    - Run Custom Fastboot commands

    v0.8 Updated 1/12/12
    - Fixed a few errors
    - Made ADB pause until a device is detected before continuing
    - New method of button remapping (DELETE "Keypads" folder from previous version)
    - Cleaned code

    v0.6 Updated 01/09/12
    - Backup
    - Now supports multiple images
    - Restore / Flash
    - Flash Custom Boot.img
