First , yes it is much info to read, but it is needed.
There is a structure , First some blablablablababla about installation and some side info......
Then the sidekick Rom and my personal favor RE-FLEXxx , if you click on the link in that little section you will be redirected to that rom.
Then you got the FLEXREAPER-RELIX rom with the available patch and mods and blablablabla info on what you find in the rom and all the possibilities.
If you don't want a custom rom with all the special stuff just stick to Acer OTA and you don't need to read anything.
I think it is a small effort for the user to take time to read before flashing something. After all I put countless hours in these 2 roms with all the mods and special stuff in them. The regular users of my rom know how it works and where to look. I expect a new user takes the time to learn and read.
Take a look at the V6Supercharger thread,( meaning no disrespect to zeppelinrox as all the info in that post is needed) then I think this thread is still OK for the newbie.

If you look in the thread I can't even make it clear enough what and how to use this rom with all it's futures.
I still got users that install this rom on HC bootloader and got stuck and ask me the question how that is possible?? Not pointing fingers ,and I do understand it but maybe you get my point that info is needed. If you can make me a clearer post , please do and pm me with your layout. I just don't have the time for that.

There are just so many things that I feel the user needs to know. Even a microwave got a longer manuel then this rom.

I could just post the 2 links and post with it , "use at your own risk , mods and tweaks are for you to find out and try".
Well if that is what the users want, they are not getting that from me. I'm old school. I like to read. I even pay for bandw. so my screenshots can be shown all the time for the users.

So for you :
-You want RE-FLEXxx= 4.0.4 A700 ported rom.
RE-FLEXxx_Rev5.2= Stock kernel and aimed for long battery life (but there is no more new releases on that one)
RE-FLEXxx-STRYKER = Tweaked and pre-overclocked and V6Supercharger tweaks and many more exotic stuff (This one gets updates and full rom releases)
So if you pick the RE-FLEXxx-STRYKER_Rev3 you install it and make your settings , then you flash the update patch to Rev4.2 (it is a patch and not a full rom , full rom Rev4.2 will follow)


You want FLEXREAPER-RELIX_Rev7 : You install that one and you do your settings and then you can update to Rev7.1(just a small patch regarding GPS)
With this rom you got more mods then with RE-FLEXxx.

Voila , use at your own risk and blablablabalabalbalabalabala.....ICS unlocked bootloader.........bblblbabaalabalanaba.......custom recovery........:cool:

Ha and what does the post says about using the patch "Patch Rev.. to Rev4.2 (only for STRYKER users)"

If you flashed the REV5.2 full rom and then the STRYKER full rom , well you need to do a full wipe.
I try to do my best to make it posibble to give update files and not only full roms. But switching between roms and different rom versions is not possible without full wipe , sorry.
Only updates with in the same version is possible. you can alway make a nandroid backup of your data and restore only that but I do not recommend it. Or use TB to restore, again I do not recommend it.

Yeah Mate, it was the fun time. Latest technology was the short lived 8-track tape player. Aerosmith was king. The days,,,,,,

Sometimes.....wish I was back then. '72 monte carlo with a 402 cu inch big block, Late nite drag races. Those were the days....

Full rom RE-FLEXxx-STRYKER-Rev4.2

-Cleaned out the thread , removed old roms.
Also RE-FLEXxx-Rev5.2 non tweaked rom removed as I don't feel like keeping so many versions.....It is already to complicated it seems :laugh:

If you want a stock non overclocked kernel just flash one from the OP(original post , meaning the first post of this thread , number 1)
More info can be requested true e-mail at the Acer support site for custom roms. :angel: the rom number is 4 8 15 16 23 42.

So just for you,

Install Acer drivers on pc, connect your tablet that is off to the pc and then while it is connected you use a little pin to push the reset button ( right side bottom of the tablet) and press the power button at the same time. You screen wil stay black but your pc will pick it up as recovery driver , now it is in apx mode..................all the rest see in the correct thread as im not going to redo that thread in this post.

Firstly, thanks for your patience with this newbie. I did exactly what you said, the issue is that I cannot retrieve my CPUID. Can I ask please ask for your assistance once again, will u be able to advise on what should be done here. The furthest I got was getting teh device in APX mode and spent another 3 hours on the net trying to find a way to retrieve my CPUID. Please help.

I downloaded all the tools like Blackthunders A500 Manager and flash tools. Uisng the manager in APX mode just states "Starting ADB server and the " Killing ADB server"

I think your ROMS are the best there is for the A500, Ive been trying JB but always come back to yours.
Now saying that I am really lost in all your versions....Hard to follow up between Reflex, Relix, Stryker, I dont even know what I am using now.....
Can you make a resumen of difference in the first post and a direct link to each version?

I searched through the forum, but most of the comments regarding moving from Taboonay to Flex Rom seem to be about the 2.2 version of HC. I am currently running the 3.0.1 version and since development seems to have died off and I am really getting frustrated with dealing with the SOD. It's gotten so bad that my Iconia has been practically delegated to an oversized alarm clock.

I just want to know if I can flash directly over to this ROM or if I have to do any other steps. I have a major migraine today, so the simpler and clearer the better. I'd love to start really using my tablet again. Thanks.

This ROM is for ICS bootloader users. If you have a migraine then you might want to reconsider doing this today and coming back when you have the time to fully read the OP. Hope that doesn't sound mean, it just requires time and patience to read everything and doing so makes everything else a breeze.

Sorry Civ. The fact that they were in the same "box" in the OP was slightly confusing. It kinda made it look like - here's the main rom, here's a variant. I could tell reflex and relix were obviously different. My bad on the confusion.

No, that's fine. Lately I just have been having one of those weeks where the easiest way for me to get something properly is practically a numbered list.

So, just to get a clearer picture. Even though I am running an ICS rom, I need to first flash the V8 ICS Bootloader and then follow the instructions on the OP to flash the new ROM?
Also, can I flash the the ICS bootloader while still running Taboonay 3.0.1?

Yeah, you pretty much do need the V8 ICS BL. You CAN use civato's ROMs without it just requires flashing a stock kernel that works on the HC bootloader. He has a d/l link to one in his OP - but I'm pretty sure max performance isn't guaranteed (don't quote me though :p). Also, you can use Taboonay with v8 ICS BL however I think you need to flash something extra to make the ROM boot - that's somewhere in that OP.

I would download the lastest Reflex Stryker ROM and THIS. The link I posted is to a thread for a tool called AfterOTA. I used that to upgrade my BL and it's pretty self-explanatory (of course I recommend reading everything though). Rough outline: download said files, put the ROM on your SD, upgrade BL, flash ROM...I believe that is the general process I followed. If I'm wrong someone please correct me so I don't lead this user astray.

Civato, my apologies for not being totally relevant, just want to make sure other users get to experience your work :good:

Don all the formatting as instructed, after installation when I reboot, it stays on Acer logo. Do u know why? I'm installing from light speed rom.

Did you update your bootloader , it clearly states that the roms are only for UNLOCKED ICS BOOTLOADER USERS.

Is it ok to flash rev 7 over rev 5 without a wipe or do you have to wipe with every release

Searched quite extensively, but can't seem to find how do disable AcerRing lockscreen for RE-FLEXxx? Nothing in build.prop that I can see would disable this?

    BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING PLEASE BE SURE TO BE ON THE ICS UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER.
    HOW TO DO THIS UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER THING?

    For Aroma installer you need to be on one of the following custom recovery's
    ezterry's A500PubRecovery
    or
    TWRP 2.1.3 (not 2.2...)
    or
    Thor 1.7.3
    or
    ra-recovery 3.17 (recovery-ra-iconia-3.17-gnm)

    INSTALLATION
    -first take a full nandroid backup !
    -First time installing this rom = wipe all , factory reset , format and make sure to format flexrom!!!
    -flash rom first with cwm or RA recovery
    -Reboot and do your settings.
    -Now you can use the Aroma packages or mods

    If you got problems please before posting them do the following.

    Performe a REAL format....
    here's how to on cwm:

    go to in recovery enter "Backup and Restore" and click on "Toggle backup and restore of internal storage (/data/media)"
    should say enabled....
    then go into "Mounts and Storage" and "format /data"
    this will REALLY format data and you will loose all you have in the in the internal memory.

    As I already mentioned this is my goodbye to the active community.
    I will still jump in to read some stuff but active support or new rom releases is just not for me anymore.
    Life got other plans for me.

    I joined XDA as a noob and to be honest I still feel a noob compared to some of the supurb dev's here on XDA.
    I would like to say thanks to ezterry , thor2002ro , vache , spica1234 , Stefan Gündhör , Skrilax_CZ , blackthund3r , Euclid's Brother , smaury , Moscow Desire and many more.............
    In some way each of you helped me doing my thing.
    I probably made some people mad but no hard feelings from my part.
