It is many people's experience that the latest gives SOD, thus using the older one for now.
ok i think i'm stuck.... i know you mentioned first boot takes a while. but looking at my screen, it says:
/bin/sh can't access tty; job control turned off. then i'm shown the cursor prompt.
if i let it sit there an don't do anything, it shows I2C read data for the battery....
i followed the step by step

Guys, only do step 9 if you cannot boot with linux complaining about mmcblk0.
Undo step 9 and try again. I edited my post according to people's feedback.
And also I had made a typo. use /system not /system/app I fixed the post.
It seems good and working for me. You have to try for yourself. setcpu.apk is recommended for even better battery.
mskip's loader supports custom folder name. Other autoboot devs will fix, if this build catches on.

New zimage ONLY works with some hd2s. Not all hd2s have the same lcd panel so the new zimage does not wake up for most people. I assure cotulla.pp.ru is a safe website.

Start ES File Explorer V1.4.4 --> Settings --> Scroll to the bottem --> Root options --> Check Root Explorer --> Check Mount File System --> Done!
i seem to have lost root ?
how do you get root back?

Others, be careful about the 25/7 zimage. It does not wake up from sleep for most people because of different brand lcd panels some hd2s have. (It is NOT about US/European Hd2s)
I believe USB mount does not work with most builds if some app is using the sdcard in the background. (e.g. camera, market, file explorer) And also if it fails to mount usb storage for windows usb connect, it may not be able to mount back to android when you unplug the cable showing 0.00MB storage (and you cannot install anything. just reboot)

I haven't lost root at all. Maybe its related to image or maybe you need to start a root app and make it ask for permissions and you grant them.
