[Q] Corrupt OTA update, is it possible to save photos and personal data from a fix?
My friend went to update his HTC One X+ (Vodafone UK) to 4.2.2 from an OTA update.
It then proceeded to bootloop on the HTC start screen. I took a look at the bootloader and everything checks out as a corrupt rom installation. When I go to recovery, it gives me a Triangle with a exclamation mark inside. My only option is to factory reset or use the HTC RUU,
However both options mean clearing out data. Since the phone functions its personal data on internal memory, this poses a problem as I can't save his pictures and videos from an SD card.
He was completely unprepared for this. My guess was that he had low battery while updating, he did charge the phone by USB on a computer while he updated.
The phone is locked with S-on. Connecting a usb on it does not come up on the computer's devices.
I'm running out of options and it would be a shame if he lost his pics and videos. Although he has some rather incriminating things on me there
but that's besides the point. CAN WE SAVE IT?
Oh and does a factory reset affect pictures and videos?
