[Q] Error when flashing CM7 from CM11

I'm trying to flash CM 7.2.0 onto my Captivate using CWM 6.0.4.7. I'm getting an error "format() expects 5 args, got 3". It's currently running a CM11 nightly. What's strange is that I can't seem to flash a different CWM version to recovery either. It does flash successfully, but on reboot still uses the existing recovery.

Any ideas?

You could go back to stock KK4 via post #3 in this link : http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1300843

or I personally use this http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1285616 but the most common is KK4.

Thanks! That got me on the path to a working CM7. For anyone else, I:

  • Used "Heimdall One Clicks: I897UCKK4 Stock, Wipe, with option to install Bootloaders, Param, and Repartition-Heimdall One-Click"
in Windows to flash back to stock completely using KK4 from post #3 above. I originally tried without touching the bootloader, but no kernels would flash properly with it. I also originally tried in OS X, but had a huge number of USB errors that prevented connecting to the phone in download mode.
  • Used Semaphore's clockwork recovery as documented at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_captivatemtd. Again, this only worked in Windows once I upgraded the bootloader.
  • Installed CM7 like normal. That brought along an upgraded CWM recovery.
