I had already tried --base 0x13600000 alone (found that in the 5660M open source release from Samsung, with the help of this guide) and that didn't work. Adding --pagesize 4096 fails with an error from my mkbootimg version, which might be an older version... I got it off the Darktremor ramdisk scripts package.
And to top it off, kernel.org is unavailable to download the AOSP source, which would yield a generic build of the latest mkbootimg version. (Anyone care to upload theirs?)
I'm also wondering, is a boot.img read off bml8 actually suitable for these modifications, versus a homemade build or official release?
Another idea I've been thinking about: have any of you tried getting rid of RFS and formatting /system in either ext4 or yaffs? Any performance to be gained by doing that?
Goodbye,
Darkshado
P.S. Waqasshahzad: could you remove/update the 5660M stock firmware from version 1 to version 2? V1 doesn't flash as-is in Odin because the system partition is incorrectly named. (See the early 5660M partition mapping posts for the whole story.)
I mean the status bar itself... The icons all actually worked. But I want to use the Cyanogenmod status bar...

UPDATE :
•Fixed applying existing Update.zips that assume the device name is 'GT-S5660'.
•Format /sd-ext as ext2 as most ROMs don't support ext3/ext4.
ClockworkMod Recovery for the Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660(Credits to tjstyle and ilarrain and thanks to hyriand)

ClockWorkMod Recovery (7352391 bytes)reboot option fixed
Things tested and work:
•Backup / restore.
•Mount USB storage.
•Wipe data / factory reset.
The source code for the Linux kernel available on github. The kernel for this image was built using the gio_v03_recovery_defconfig configuration. Currently, the CyanogenMod device config isn't available yet, but will be soon.
Credits to tjstyle and ilarrain. Without their input this would've taken a lot longer to make.
ORIGINAL RECOVERY : In case you don't want ClockWorkMod Recovey , or face issues , Download this file and flash it
http://www.mediafire.com/?4z8q22xokqp627k
It seems to be a clean version of ROM, newer than KQB, with no polish apps bundled.
PS: it's working quite fast.

For Canada Bell Samsung Gio S5660M rooting and link2sd activation:
1. Flash with http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=16963172&postcount=1 the V2 rom listed here using Odin method. This will root your phone
2. Flash http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=16979810&postcount=548 SimpliGio+ using Odin multiple file method, SKIP updating the phone/modem module or it'll stop your phone from connecting to Bell/Telus. This step enables link2sd and gets rid of stock useless apps, while adding FM app.
3. Install stock Swype Program http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1239577 using Recovery zip file method, otherwise there's no access to new keyboards if you choose to install one later on
Now you'll have a S5660M rooted with Link2SD functioning
The problem with all the roms listed in the first post of this gigantic thread is that they contain a different modem code and it totally screws up the connection for Canadian carriers. Maybe someone can explain why. I spent 3 days here with hours of trail and error to get this far, haha.
I'm new at this and very confused, all I want is my radio tuner. Bell, you suck! Can you give me a little guidance? I don't understand a lot of the walkthrough's. I did the first step and rooted but when i go into the second stage and tried to install the zip from the SD card is gives me an error and aborts, Do I flash it through Odin? will it mess up my signal? Please help!
Thanks

I've been installed A2SDGui and A2SD script on SimpliGio 1.2 then move Delvik cache to SD-EXT partition but I have "Not enough space" message.
I've tried clear or remove all apps then try again but it's same error.
How can I move Delvik cache to SD-EXT. I'm using S5660XXKQ3 with SimpliGio

I would think that is an hardware problem...
