No, you don't need a factory cable since you are on a 8.9”. Simply open a command prompt and CD into a directory with a copy of fastboot, and run this command, "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product", after it says waiting for device plug your kindle in with the power off. It should go into fastboot, if it doesn't then you need to install the drivers for fastboot that are in my signature.
