The installer detects if you're running on a p999 or p990. The kernel command line should specify board id (p999, or p990) and I look for the p999 string and give you p999 specific install options if found or p990 ones if not. Makes me wonder what kind of recovery you have running on your phone. cuz it should have the correct kernel command line... and pretty much everyone should have one of two recoveries installed, either old style CWM or touch cwm hacked for the p999. I'm using touch so i know that work.

for the people who apparently dont see the 21y option. can you adb shell while the phone is plugged in and in recovery. cat /proc/cmdline and post the output to me. The very last thing in the output is supposed to be the board id (p999, or p990)

oh ok cuz it says build 5 in OP and on the web it says build 4 but it does have the date you stated. thanks

One of the aroma slides, it said 990.I downloaded the 999p (left hand device) ROM thou.
Anyways, no biggie. I downloaded the patch and all is good.

I have several SD cards. A) I find the basic idea of defaulting to external completely ridiculous, but aside from that B) I move my SD cards around almost daily between computers, phone, and tablet. I like the fact that on the fly I can unmount and move stuff to my tablet with just the files I want to move and not bloated up with stuff that should be on the phone itself.

still, run that command. I think you may have installed a p990 recovery. the output will tell me why your setup is weird

Same here ! My phone is p999 and it detects p990. Running the latest CWM (not the touch one)

I installed Build5 (wiped/erased/formatted data/cache/dalvik). I chose full install with gapps. Everything seemed to go well in the Aroma installer. 0 errors at the end. After restarting the phone I get the white LG logo and then it goes to black screen with touch buttons staying lit.

I even downloaded the build one more time and also nullified. same result.
I'm on the old BB. P999.

Any thoughts?

I'll go back to build 4 and see what happens.
UPDATE: build4 installs without any issues

The fallback method provides a less likely problem scenario. The internal storage will only become primary if no sd is present. And it's quite unlikely to be switching in an sd card with previous android data on it. The feature is invisible to the user and doesn't change expected behavior. Plus it's easier to code in.

Ideally, i would love to have user definable targets for various data types in android . I'd love to be able to say, pictures get saved (here) and music saved (here) and ringtones (here) apps go (here) and etc. Where (here) is a choice between internal or sd. But we'll see. I think in the next week or so things will calm down until google finally releases jellybean and so in the meantime between work on the p990 port, we'll focus on bringing some more useful features to aosp in a way that doesn't corrupt the aosp look and feel.

haha now would that be nice to have that an aoption while installing the rom???!! could be interesting. Nice job on the port to p990... I was thinking of the same thing since our rom isnt updated over there any more and then I saw yalls port.. pretty cool. idk why we dont all have cross platform roms and kernels and mods. some devs do it, but not all.. the phones were separated at birth I tell ya!! (not really but that sounds cooler to say)

well recovery (non touch) must me doing something weird with the command line. I need someone who had their installer detecting p990 to run the command I posted and post the output. then we can fix this issue

Did you have a look at the log that Aroma gives you the option to save? Did you even save the log to be viewed? post it here.. your info isnt enough for full help.

this is good stuff, this is how error reporting should be. versus this dont work or that dont work or im stuck here... thanks for the log.. im sure team eb will get it sorted for you. The logs help alot.

The only big difference between the logs was that when installing build5 my phone was not identified.
