You wanted a dev device but....
You don't root, and flash, and is still on .2??
Strange. I'm on big red loving 4.0.4.

Isn't the point of the Nexus line to get the updates automatically? I mean seriously, isn't that the ENTIRE selling point? Yeah, rooting and flashing aren't too hard, but I would be pissed if I owned a Nexus device still on 4.0.2. Didn't it take them 5 months to get ICS on the CMDA Nexus S? That's ridiculous...

Verizon raped Nexus. They made arbitrary changes to the phone which delays updates compared to the international version and the LTE sucks for battery life. Not to mention, they bloated the **** out of it. I do not understand why Apple is the only company that knows how to protect their devices from the evil carriers.

Google should just sell unlocked on the Play Store from the get go next time around. One carrier? CDMA only in the US? Are you kidding me?

I guess at this point i'm just wondering how long is it actually going to take to get an official update And then i'll root it

As much as i don't like Apple's approach to doing things, here i have to agree, they actually do take care of their devices. And as soon as a software update is available, you just download it, without having to wait 6 months for the carrier to roll it out.

Official or not... it's there use it.
Official this and that.
I'm glad I don't care.
We have the information... so I feel like if I was a mechanic, I wouldn't send my car to the shop knowing that I have the knowledge to fix it.
thanks to the devs

Why would it be android 4.0? It would be the next version

Also in my opinion 4.9" is wayyyyy too big for a phone, if I wanted a huge screen I would use my tablet

That may be fine for people like me and you, but it isn't for the vast majority of tech consumers out there. Your average user is never going to even think of installing a custom ROM. Ever.

It's a pretty terrible model for Google to only release their flagship phone on one network (albeit the largest one), call it their "Pure Google" device despite letting Verizon bloat it, and neglect it in terms of updates when compared to the international version.

Wanna know what I just did? Spent the past 10 minutes on the phone trying to help my mom get her bookmark bar back in Safari. There are far more users like my mom than there are like us. They're not mechanics. They just drive their Camry to work and back every day, and they can never remember how to change the clock on the dash for daylight savings time.

There is a lot of truth to what you say. I actually use the 2 apps that came with the phone. The normal consumer doesn't even care about bloat ( I think they're just use to it) but you do have a very strong point in what you typed
